Landman – Dallas Texas

Our Dallas, TX client is seeking a Landman on a direct hire basis.  This position is responsible for acquisition and maintenance of Permian Basin producing properties as well as negotiations, maintenance and interpretation of all agreements required for exploration, development and operations.  Plans and directs projects and supplies land knowledge, leadership and consultation to professional co-workers.  Represents Company in external discussions and right of way/surface damage negotiations. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct field brokers to run title, acquire oil and gas leases, prepare run sheets and aide the company landman in curing title deficiencies
Responsible for notifying exploration and production personnel of all upcoming lease obligations and participate in determining contractual provision of various agreements contributing to the disposition of each obligation;
Responsible for the acquisition of leasehold rights, and seeking out trades, farmins and farmouts with operators to optimize land holdings
Settle surface damages with landowners
Monitor continuous development obligations for leases
Cure title deficiencies brought forth within division order and drilling title opinions
Provide all Land support to assigned area of responsibility, working with technical peers and other departments in support of company’s drilling program

Requirements:
4 year degree required
Minimum 4 years’ experience as a practicing landman
Permian Basin Experience an “in-house” experience a plus
Strong analytical skills;
Attention to detail;
Excellent  interpersonal skills, and written/oral communication skills;
Capable of developing written communications appropriate for internal and external audiences;
Ability to work within a team environment;
Ability to work with landowners, outside joint venture partners, potential partners and governmental agencies
Work closely with land, exploration, production, legal and financial departments in accomplishing common goals

Job Responsibilities:

Job Requirements:

Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented with strong analytical skills and highly organized.

Responsibilities:

Manage every level of detail of the VP’s schedule by gaining familiarity with meeting purposes and priority levels, rearranging meetings as needed to maintain orderly flow of priorities. This will include on-site, off-site, international, and networking/community meetings. Make the “magic” happen discretely behind the scenes, such that it appears effortless.

Develop strong relationships with the other Executive Assistants (in Houston and in Perth) such that rearranging meetings with Perth are effectively and easily navigated.

Due to the global nature of our company and business, be available and alert during “after-hours” if the leader has meeting such that last minute changes do not cause conflicts or confusion for the leader.

Make domestic/international travel arrangements, including flights, transportation, accommodations (temporary and long-term). Prepare daily/weekly travel agendas and manage details to ensure the executive is well prepared as necessary and all last minute changes are managed such that meetings and necessary materials flow effectively.

Ensure the leader is fully prepared for meetings by planning ahead, considering appropriate attire, travel times, a need to have lunch, breaks, and generally be intuitive about what needs may arise. Plan ahead. Know what he needs before he knows for himself.

Thoroughly understand how to use the electronic equipment for video conferencing, prepare materials (copies, electronic presentations, etc), equipment (video, computer projector) and conference room for meetings.

Support “all employees” meetings by ensuring the room is prepared properly and ready ahead of the start of the meeting. When sending out “all employee” meeting requests, take ownership that all goes according to plan for the presenter(s).

Ensure orderly flow of documents needing approvals and make proper alerts regarding any deadline issues that may arise. Be comfortable enough to push back when requests for signatures come at the last minute and ensure deadlines are “real.” Ensure requestor had initialled documents, showing his/her endorsement before leaving for the signature.

Manage credit card reports, coding of expenses, and receipts, such that timely and accurate submissions are made.

Utilize SAP and other internal systems to create purchase orders, process billings/invoices, and ensure timely payment of bills.

Navigate other internal matters on behalf of the leader such that there is very little distraction from key priorities.

Assist with maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen, file room, copy room, and workplace. May have sole responsibility from time to time, as other admin team members are on leave.

10+ years’ experience working in an administrative assistant/support role in a highly professional office environment; 5+ years directly supporting senior leaders/executives; at least 2 years’ experience at and Exploration and Production (E&P) company.

Expert user of Microsoft Outlook.

Expert experience with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for creating reports, letters, spread sheets and presentations.

Proven record of strong organizational and multi-tasking skills while maintaining a strong positive attitude.

Organize, monitor and coordinate company files and records to assure that information is available when needed.
Resolve administrative problems and inquiries and coordinate information flow to the professional automation system.
Prepare and modify correspondence, reports and emails involving routine inquiries.

Answer and screen all telephone calls in a professional manner. Take clear and concise messages and/or field and answer all routine and non-routine questions.
Meet and greet guests.
Maintain executive’s calendar via Outlook, which includes coordinating, planning and scheduling meetings and appointments.
Coordinate travel arrangements as necessary.
Prepare and track expense reports using QuickBooks.
Compose and type standard correspondence and draft reports.
Handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information.
Work on special projects
Handle inventory and assure there is a sufficient supply maintained in the office.
Fax, photocopy and scan as requested.

Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred
2-5 years of experience.
QuickBooks Pro and MS Office experience is required
Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Must have knowledge of office administrative procedures, and knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment, at a level generally acquired through related administrative experience.
Some analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
