Our Desoto, TX client is seeking an Assistant Controller- Manufacturing.  The Assistant Controller will direct the company’s accounting and financial reporting policies in a manner that properly reflects the financial position of the company and is in accordance with US GAAP requirements.  As a key member of the management team, the Assistant Controller will serve as the lead on developing the accounting infrastructure, standardizing processes, ensuring tax compliance, and preparing analyses as needed.

Responsibilities:
Direct all company accounting processes and functions, including timely and accurate recording
and reporting of all financial transactions and system reconciliations.
Drive a timely month-end close process, quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Prepare US GAAP multi-location and combined financial statements.
Develop key financial policies and procedures, including implementing and maintaining the policies.
Ensure that accounting activities and reporting are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company procedures.
Assist VP Controller with all accounting matters including advising other departments on policy structures, with respect to accounting and tax reporting implications.
Drive the annual and quarterly budget process and provide monthly reporting versus plan including rate/volume/other variance detail.
Manage the internal and external reporting, general ledger analysis, process and standards development, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset management, taxes, and insurance.
Analyze profit and loss drivers within the business and identify cost control measures and initiatives to ensure that the organization is run in a cost-effective manner.
Manage the relationship with external auditors.
Support Executive Team’s reporting requirements and requests.
Conduct all recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating of department staff members.
Create and implement short and long range departmental objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s objectives and to support our financial reporting environment.
Continuously improve the accounting function, including development of staff by providing effective coaching and feedback as well as appropriate delegation to staff members; assist with administering annual reviews.

Requirements:
Current CPA Designation
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
Master’s degree preferred
5+ years leading and motivating a financial accounting team
2-5 years of relevant work experience driving corporate accounting policies in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment
High level of technical competence of US GAAP, GAAS reporting and compliance, and other accounting procedures is required
Experience with LEAN models of operation
Current on best business practices related to compliance and ethics
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Financial Modeling
Proven leader in financial reporting for a company through a period of high growth
Servant leader mentality, with ability to mentor and coach staff
Highly developed interpersonal skills, possessing an ability to work with a diverse population
Capable of critical thinking and use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
Strong project management skills with a verifiable track record of success
Strong business acumen, with an eye on controlling costs and increasing profitability
