Our international oil & gas exploration client located in Dallas, TX is a well-backed, start-up seeking a Controller. While the job will begin on a contract basis, they are hopeful that the right person with the right fit may be able to join the team on a full-time basis as their organization grows.
Job Description:
This person will be the Executive in charge of building and leading the Company’s back-office for oil and gas strategies executed in partnership with private equity partners. Initial scope will require a hands-on approach with the expectation to grow into an oversight role as staff is added. This position reports directly to the Company’s Senior Executives and works closely with the private equity partners.
Job Responsibilities:
Cash management and forecasting
Lead and manage all operational accounting for the Company and its private equity partners oil and gas interests
Lead the back-office effort to support engineering and operations
Coordinate monthly close processes with outsource providers and private equity partners
Lead the budgeting and budget to actual variance processes for the Company and certain oil and gas funds
Lead the accounting processes for asset acquisitions and divestures
Work with private equity partners to prepare monthly GAAP financial statements
Work with private equity partners to prepare information for certain funds10-K and 10-Q filings
Work with private equity partners to execute the external audit processes for the Company and certain oil and gas funds
Assist in Sarbanes/Oxley 404 implementations for certain oil and gas funds
Ensure detailed compliance with Sarbanes/Oxley 404 controls and procedures
Job Requirements:
Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting required
10 or more years of accounting experience in the oil and gas industry required, offshore experience preferred
Strong experience with OGSYS required
Certified Public Accounting license is preferred
Experience building operational accounting functions
