Our client in Irving, TX is looking for a General Accounting Manager . The selected candidate will have the following skill set:

Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the timely, complete and accurate accounting and reporting of the monthly financial books and results in accordance with US GAAP

Job Responsibilities:
Executing accounting processes with primary general ledger responsibility and related functions including fixed assets; maintaining proper effective internal controls and leading projects involving to improve our processes around monthly close
Endure monthly reporting and compliance in accordance with US GAAP
Provide financial expertise, guidance and support regarding the revenue recognition, expenses, assets and liabilities for other departments
Calculate and record journal entries for complex accounting areas to ensure accurate accounting, including but not limited to areas such as self-insurance, various hedge accounting, accruals, bad debt reserves, capital vs operating lease treatment
Reconcile of such accounts monthly between the perpetual and general ledgers
Review of all of the general ledger journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, and related reporting packages
Responsible for system general ledger maintenance
Research and explain variances to prior year and plan or other ad hoc analyses as requested
Managing day-to-day general ledger accounting processes
Works closely with cross-functional counterparts from operations to other back office departments to develop and maintain policies and processes to handle new or existing transaction streams
Advising the organization on the business process and accounting impacts of business decisions and new business initiatives, processes, transaction streams and system implementations
Lead accounting team in participating in activities such as work planning, resource optimization, employee goal setting, coaching, development and performance monitoring
Create and maintain procedural documentation for general accounting to comply with SOX requirements
Being part of the larger finance and controlling organization and embrace best practices

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required
M.B.A preferred
10+ years’ accounting experience required
General ledger and/or inventory or costing support experience required
Management of a team in a well-established corporate environment required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
Retail or distribution company experience preferred
Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel required
Strong use of other Microsoft Office products required
Experience with AS400 system preferred
Occasional travel as needed, to stores and distribution centers primarily required
