Responsibilities:

  • Confer/coordinate with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects, products, or changes to equipment design or operational procedure.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for industrial purposes, including increasing plant performance or safety.
  • Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements; along with company policy and procedure, such as safety.
  • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, and installation standards and specifications.
  • Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational and safety standards.
  • Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
  • Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment and order as needed.
  • Supervise and train project team members as necessary.
  • Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products.
  • Ensure electrical plant designs and changes are in accordance with the National Electrical Code.
  • Training and supervision plant electrical employees, including but not limited to: performance appraisals, corrective actions, employee records, etc.
  • Review Work Orders and log sheets and take corrective action when needed.
  • Responsible for the safety of all electrical personnel, housekeeping in electrical area(s), and maintaining all electrical control rooms.
  • Conduct Root Cause investigations of any electrical equipment failures, maintain records of any failed electrical equipment, and generate reports on electrical equipment failures.
  • Monitor labor requirements and make necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor electrical parameters and maintenance of both the HYDRO and PYRO plan
  • Inspect the 69 KV substation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of five years work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • Several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training required. Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
