Our client in Irving, TX is looking for an Inventory Accounting Manager. The selected candidate will have the following skill set:

Position Overview:
The Inventory Accounting Manager is responsible for the complete and accurate accounting and reporting of inventory accounts in accordance with US GAAP

Job Responsibilities:
Executing accounting processes and maintaining effective internal controls
Leading projects to improve processes around inventory in accordance with US GAAP
Calculate and record appropriate journal entries to ensure accurate costing of inventory
Reconcile inventory accounts monthly between the perpetual and general ledgers
Problem solving, including finding, investigating and suggesting solutions for user and system errors
Analyze cost of goods sold and related adjustments in the income statement to ensure accuracy
Research and explain variances to prior year and plan or other ad hoc analyses as requested
Assist in the organization and compliance with cycle counts
Organize, with supply chain, the full physical inventory process and counts
Managing day-to-day inventory accounting operations and work closely with cross-functional counterparts in our distribution centers and supply chain functions to develop and maintain policies and processes to handle new or existing transaction streams
Partnering with finance and store counterparts to review inventory levels and operational results
Advising the organization on the business process and accounting impacts of business decisions and new business initiatives, processes, transaction streams and system implementations impacting inventory/ supply chain
Providing recommendations and input and/or lead initiatives on key financial and performance management metrics to optimize the short-term/long-term goals critical to Finance and Supply Chain operations
Lead other inventory accountant(s) participating in activities such as work planning, resource optimization, employee goal setting, coaching, development and performance monitoring
Create and maintain procedural documentation for inventory accounting to comply with SOX requirements

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required
10+ years’ accounting experience required
Inventory or costing, general ledger and/or supply chain support required
Experience in a well-established corporate environment required
Retail or distribution company experience preferred
Strong costing experience in varied environments required
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel required
Strong use of other Microsoft Office products required
Experience with AS400 system preferred
Occasional travel as needed, to stores and distribution centers primarily required
