Our international oil & gas exploration client located in Dallas, TX is a well-backed, start-up seeking an IT Director. While the job will begin on a contract basis, they are hopeful that the right person with the right fit may be able to join the team on a full-time basis as their organization grows.

Job Description:
This person will report directly to the CFO and will be responsible for maintaining the entire IT function. This role will be accountable for the successful delivery of all IT Services in the company, including but not limited to office support, geoscience business applications, infrastructure procurement, etc.  It is expected that this role will have some experience in the upstream energy business and the attendant office systems and IT functions.  The role requires an individual with enough leadership and experience to plan, coordinate, direct and design IT related activities as well as the ability to solve day-to-day problems in a hands-on and effective way. The client currently outsources their IT support and procurement to a number of vendors and this role will be responsible for managing those relationships.

Job Responsibilities:
Manage the delivery of the IT function and related projects
Engage and manage the necessary commercial contracts to ensure a fully supported and integrated IT environment, including infrastructure and applications
Develop appropriate IT policies, procedures, and guidelines for the effective delivery of services and securing of our data environment
Direct and manage the delivery of services, performing reactive and proactive service and infrastructure maintenance to eliminate causes of service disruption, inefficiency, or inadequacy
Advise the executive team regarding the delivery, costs, availability and functionality of IT services
Maintain relationships with vendors, partner organizations, and external organizations, as appropriate, to ensure excellent IT service delivery

Job Requirements:
Experience in leading IT teams and organizations, preferably in the international oil & gas environment
Strong and proven technical knowledge and experience in planning and managing IT infrastructure and business applications
Experience of managing user support processes, third party suppliers and support contracts
College graduate or equivalent
Preferably holds a recognized IT discipline specific qualification achieved through further training or education
Understanding of industry best practice for IT Service and Project Management
Exceptional customer service orientation
Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language
Good problem-solving and analytical skills, able to determine the approximate impact of each issue quickly to prioritize further work
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
Highly effective planning, prioritization and delegation skills
