Our Nashville, TN client is searching for a Payroll Accountant for a Direct Hire opportunity.

Position Summary:
Process semi-monthly payroll and assist controller with month-end close, account analysis and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:
Perform data entry and reconcile timesheets.
Audit online time keeping system.
Process semi-monthly payroll.
Reconcile payroll reports.
Distribute pay stubs.
Process month-end close
Issue manual payroll checks for corrections.
Prepare monthly reports and any internal reporting/comparisons.
Assist with implementation of online time keeping system.
Responsible for entering manual changes needed into Payroll & Time systems.
Prepare and post payroll journal entries.
Perform year-end payroll process.
Assist with preparation and maintenance of payroll policies and procedures.
Stay current on recent Federal and State law changes.
Identify potential issues related to the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Act as liaison with payroll/time keeping company.
Maintain wire log.
Responsible for preparing and posting purchasing card expenses monthly.
Perform other general ledger specific projects as requested by Controller or CFO.
Complete billing data entry, as assigned.
Complete billing projects, as assigned, with an emphasis on excel spreadsheets.

Other Responsibilities:
Responsible for attending all mandatory in-services, continuing education and annual health requirements.
Comply with all OSHA and safety policies, practices, and procedures.  Report all unsafe practices or accidents to supervisor, Safety Supervisor and/or OSHA Coordinator.
Will be compliant with the relevant regulations concerning the privacy and security of consumer’s protected health information (PHI) as established by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Follow all policies and procedures set by the Agency.

Essential skills and experience:
Associate’s degree (A.A., A.A.S.) or equivalent in accounting or business related field from two-year college or technical school.
General ledger, online time keeping preferred.
Minimum of 3 years experience in processing payroll for at least 400 employees required.
Must have advanced knowledge of Federal and State payroll laws.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Must be detail-oriented, deadline-focused, have strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
Must be able to work independently, while still being a team player.
