Our Galleria area Houston, TX client is seeking a Process Safety Engineer.

This person will be reporting to the Sr. VP, Customer Success. The Process Safety Engineer is a client-facing professional who will assist clients in various industries with their risk management activities. He/she provides key services to clients: facilitation and execution of various risk assessment activities and training on the use of our client’s brand risk assessment and risk management software.

Responsibilities:

Conducts risk management and process safety training where required to clients (at offices or at client locations)

Provides process safety management (PSM) consulting expertise to clients

Performs and facilitates a range of safety studies including process safety reviews, PHA (e.g. HAZOPs), and Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination (e.g. LOPA) for clients

Conducts training on the use of suite of risk assessment and risk management software tools, at offices, at client locations, and over the Internet

Provides services related to the configuration and customization of risk assessment software tools

Develops knowledge of PSM regulatory requirements (OSHA 1910.119, EPA 40 CFR Part 68, Seveso II, IEC 61511, ISO 31000, etc.), including a good understanding of different types of risk analysis methodologies and their applications.

Establishes knowledge and competency in performing risk calculations

Skills and Experience:

A College/University degree in engineering is required; mechanical/chemical is preferred

5+ years of proven hands-on experience in an engineering environment (in areas such as process safety, process design, instrumentation and controls, or environmental engineering), whether in design, operations, or supply.

Background in process re-engineering and risk management disciplines given that consulting and solution focus is in the areas of reliability/quality management, process safety management, and management of change

Ability to handle multiple, competing objectives

Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to the appropriate audience, e.g. end users, technical stakeholders, executives

Strong organization and presentation skills

Experience in handling difficult situations and managing expectations of a variety of internal and external stakeholder groups

Demonstrated initiative, teamwork and problem solving skills

Conversing in a second language (French/Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin) is an asset

Ability to travel globally at least sixty (60%) percent and on short-notice (at times)
