Our Downtown Houston, TX client is seeking a Project Accountant on a Direct Hire basis.

This position will report directly to the Project Director and will be the dedicated finance contact point for the project team.  The ideal candidate is an Accounting professional with previous experience in major projects, plant turnarounds or equivalent.  Necessary skills include Project Management, reporting, financial modeling and analysis, data analysis, and advanced SAP.

Primary Responsibilities:
Establish detailed spend forecasts in conjunction with project team members
Consolidation of all elements of the project for overall project assessment including actual costs incurred relative to forecast and forecast spend to go
Establish finance policies and procedures for the project including all relevant accounting standard considerations
Reconciliation of financial information to subsidiary systems including general ledgers, procurement systems, prolog and prism
Preparation and reporting of periodic (monthly) cash flow forecasts for the total project, coordinating with Group Treasury to ensure funding is managed to meet commitments
Support and hold all areas of the project accountable in cost control
Ensure there is a robust process in forecasting costs to go on the project
Manage internal and external audit requirements
Design and preparation of periodic reporting for the Steering Committee and IPL Board
Providing financial support to all areas of the project including hedging and leasing considerations where relevant
Establish procedures on inventory / asset controls (fixed asset register)
Manage transition to and set up off site manufacturing controls and systems
Critical role in spend management including:
Participation in commitment request reviews
Management of third party cost control system operator – Projects Control Manager

Primary Requirements:
B.S degree with major in Finance or Accounting and advanced degree (CPA)
7+ years in Project Accounting or equivalent
Previous Supervisory or Lead experience
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment
Ideally familiar with DNA and IPL accounting systems and procedures
Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
Must be available for light, domestic travel  (2-3 overnights a month)
Advanced experience with SAP
Project management and reporting skills
Good understanding of Procure to Pay processes
Good knowledge of project financial modeling and analysis
Expert at accounting treatment for investment projects
Ability to analyze data, recommend solutions and implement actions
Ability to design and facilitate training to employees / direct reports
