Our NW Houston, TX client is in need of a Quality Technician for a Direct Hire opportunity.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs a variety of tests to ensure units function according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure, using test instruments: Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Works with the production and engineering staff to support any receiving-in processes, and performs final inspection activities. Reports to senior management on the state of the quality system as defined in the Quality documents.
Conduct and supervise calibration activities, maintaining accurate records of calibrations performed, both internal and external. Administers all Internal Audits associated with the quality system.
Resolves and disposes of quality issues raised by customers and vendors.
May visit suppliers to audit their activities.
Other responsibilities as assigned or required.

EXPERIENCE PREFFERED:
2+ years of experience in the following:
Perform inspection to defined criteria.
Using basic measuring tools to include; Calipers, Micrometers, Mil Gauges, surface finish gauges, hardness testing, and Tape measure.
Weld inspection tools – (advanced preferred), such as Fillet gauge, Bridge gauge, Hi lo gauge.
Receiving inspection:  Compare specifications to order, packing slip. Evaluate for damage and compliance.
Experience with Material Test Reports, Heat numbers and material traceability criteria.
Read and interpret Drawings, Specifications, Standards, procedures.
Performs analysis of Data using Excel, Paratoo charts, histograms, ANOVA testing
Must be able to calculate averages, means, standard deviation
Experience with the following Standards: ISO 9001-2008, ASME Section 9, B31 Series pipe codes

Education/Training Required:
High School diploma or GED required (or international equivalent). Prefer Associates’ or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certificate is HIGHLY preferred. In order to be considered without this certification, candidate must meet all certification requirements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes required.
