Our Plano, TX client is seeking a contract Senior Benefits Specialist.

Responsibilities
Administration of employee benefit plans including enrollment of new hires, monitoring life changes, explaining benefit options, mediating eligibility and claim issues for the purpose of providing maximum coverage to employees within contract specifications.
Assist in management of company wellness program, including drafting and editing communications, vendor management, and assisting in the development of the strategy of the program.
Manages annual Open Enrollment activities including design and distribution of enrollment materials, reconciliation of employee enrollment, group presentations and detailed plan explanation.
Reconcile and process benefit plan invoices, reports and other communications to outside providers; coordinates timely and accurate payment for all benefit programs to the benefit provider/carriers.
Administration of FMLA, COBRA, FSA, and Short and Long Term Disability programs in compliance with all statutory regulations and company policies. This includes handling inquiries and resolving issues, ensuring benefit coordination and timely notifications to employee and managers, and reviewing reports from vendors to validate appropriate level of service.
Assists in the preparation of summary plan descriptions and other documents and communicates about these specific plans through letters, telephone, and in person.  Update Sharepoint sites that houses employee benefit program information.
Maintains accurate and complete files on benefit provider/carriers regarding plan descriptions, contracts, amendments and other benefit related documents.
Assists in the evaluation and analysis of existing benefits, provides recurring and ad-hoc reports that accurately reflect the performance of benefit plans and vendors, proposes enhancements or modifications to existing programs as well as new offerings in order to recommend action to management.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal laws, state laws, policies, and procedures including – HIPAA, DOL, ERISA and IRS
Builds productive, collaborative relationships with employees, managers and HR staff.
Collects, analyzes, audits, and reports benefits data to maintain data integrity as well as for external and internal audits.
Completes other projects and special assignments as requested by supervisor and/or Senior Management
Evaluate and enhance internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency
Provide the technical support, test system functionality and work with end users to provide system support and troubleshoot system problems
Manage interface files to and from vendors and assist in the development and testing of interface files.
Ensure accurate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.

Required Experience
5+ years in a Benefits Specialist/Administrator role
Working knowledge of current benefit laws and regulations
Working knowledge of principles and practices of benefits administration
Proficiency in HRIS systems and HR reporting
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Prior experience presenting content to small to medium sized groups is preferred
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Detail oriented with exemplary organizational and time management skills
Confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive and proprietary information;
Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent Business related experience;
CBP and/or CEBS professional designations preferred
