Our Nashville, TN client is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join their company.

Summary:
Manages company programs and projects of large size and mission-critical nature. Provides counsel to the company regarding the execution of company initiatives to achieve strategic objectives by applying appropriate project management processes and tools. Participates in tactical and strategic planning relating to the optimal application of emerging technologies. Implements project review and quality assurance procedures in accordance with the PMO methodology to ensure profitable and successful execution of each project as measured by company goals and customer satisfaction. Participates in continuous process improvement initiatives relating to project management. Directly interfaces with external project vendors as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage programs and large, mission-critical company projects, providing management and/or supervised delegation in the following areas: project planning, execution, and control; procurement management; quality management; risk management; communications management; resource management; time, cost, and scope management.
Manage assigned department staff; ensure competent, motivated staff through training, counseling, and reviewing performance of team members.
Manages scope and mitigates risk across multiple projects.
Serve as primary liaison and vendor contract manager with external project vendors.
Serve as key liaison with IT leads on project management and planning.
Participate in evaluation and selection of new company projects and initiatives.
Monitor the effectiveness of the Project Management processes and make appropriate recommendations for continuous improvement.
Provide specialized training to Sterling resources on the purpose, processes, and deliverables required for all phases of Sterling’s Project Management Methodology.
Coaches junior PMO staff to increase Project Management competence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of project management principles and processes in accordance with Project Management Institute (PMI) standards.
Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and how project management principles are best applied to each phase.
Expertise in current software development techniques, methodologies, and architectures.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels within the corporation.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to identify and analyze project needs with solid problem solving abilities.
Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external project resources.
Proven effective supervisory and leadership skills in being flexible, creative, diplomatic, team oriented and process driven.
Healthcare background/expertise in one or more functional areas: Enrollment, Service, Claims, Finance.
Medicare and Medicaid product familiarity

Education and Experience:
BA or BS in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance or related field, Master’s preferred.
Equivalent related experience may partially substitute for formal education.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or university equivalent certification.
Minimum ten years combined business requirements analysis and project management experience on projects of medium to high complexity.
Minimum four years progressive experience in Healthcare industry business project management.
Minimum four years progressive experience with software development and/or IT projects.

Health & Life Insurance industry business operations experience
Clear understanding of CMS regulations
Business process management experience
Business process re-engineering experience
Six Sigma Green Belt highly desired
Vendor management experience
Training experience
IT infrastructure experience and/or training/certifications

Essential Functions:
Manual dexterity in hands to do extensive keyboarding
Requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time
