Dividend planning
FIN 48  Analysis for determining reportable positions in foreign jurisdictions
FX gain or loss analysis on IC transactions and other Cross Border

Accounting and Analytical skills:
Software:  Oracle or JDE, OneSource Tax Compliance and Provision, Spread Sheet Server for Reporting, strong Excel skills

Background profile:
3+ years experience with US and International Corporate Tax Compliance and Provision
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
CPA is a plus
Srong exposure to FIN 48 analysis
Tax Compliance software experience with OneSource or CorpTax preferred
Experience in the Construction Industry preferred

POSITION SUMMARY:
Conduct business process/controls reviews, internal and external Licensee  audits to help  minimize  risk  and maximize efficiencies throughout  the company.   Work  with  various departments  within the  company to understand,  analyze and enhance  business  processes.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Plan and execute internal audits and external compliance audits of Licensees: Determine scope and approach for audits
Interview various levels of employees
Document business processes and collect relevant data
Execute procedures, perform detailed data analysis, reach conclusions, document results and recommend ideas for internal control improvements
Recognize relevant financial statement and operational issues from basic analysis and identify potential non-compliance with standards
Establish and assist in tracking key process metrics
Maintain internal control systems by updating audit programs and questionnaires; recommend new policies and procedures.
Utilize various software tools for data extraction and analysis for project support as well as ad hoc reports for senior management.
Conduct external audits of a Licensees to ensure compliance with license agreement.
Travel up to 50% to perform external audits of Licensees.

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a concentration in business, accounting, finance, or related field.

Experience:
Minimum 3 years audit, consulting, or other relevant experience.

Project management techniques and tools

Controller – Clarksville TN

Our Clarksville, TN client is in need of a Controller on a Direct Hire basis.

Job Summary:
The Controller will supervise all income and expenditures and keep track of all ingoing and outgoing cash flow for our Client.  This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely Client financial statements.  The Controller will also be responsible for accounting activities including general ledger preparation, year-end audit preparation, and budget and forecast activities management.  The Controller will have contact with senior-level management and the firm’s executive management which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Education and Experience:
CPA required
BA/BS in Accounting or Business degree with an emphasis in Accounting; a Masters Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration preferred
Minimum 3-5 years experience with DCAA and/or Government Contracting required
10 +/- years total experience
8 years of experience with accounting systems and accounting policies and procedures
5 years of experience in a senior level finance or accounting position
Experience providing financial analysis for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
7 years of budgeting and economic forecasting experience
7 years tax and year-end audit experience
7 years experience in financial reporting and general ledger
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Provide for a system of management cost reports
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
Ensure that all accounts receivable are collected promptly
Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed

The Controller will be responsible for the performance and monitoring of financial/accounting activities to provide asset protection and maximum utilization.  This is a contract to possible hire opportunity. 

Controller Primary Job Function:
Manage financial reporting and analysis in a timely fashion to present operating results.
Provide accurate and timely reports to aid management in the decision making process.
Serve as liaison with Corporate concerning financial issues.
Review cost improvement projects to ensure changes are effective.
Provide financial advice to management to ensure cost/profit improvements.
Serve as key member of total company financial management group to provide consistent procedures/strategy and focus on future needs and direction.
Coordinate business plan activity with corporate financial objectives.
Establish financial controls to safeguard company assets and funds.  Initiate inventory control programs to assure accurate accountability.
Develop processes to review and improve on reporting procedures.
Manage processes of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Controller Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
7-10 years related experience.
A CPA preferred.
Knowledge and experience in computer applications and complete understanding of accounting principles is required.
A results-driven individual who has demonstrated ability working in a high performance environment.
Proven experience in accounting/finance management.
Good attention to details.
Able to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal easily with pressure on a day in and day out basis.
Must be able to motivate, communicate and drive continuous improvement.

Financial Analyst – Dallas TX

Our Dallas, TX client is seeking a Financial Analyst.

Responsibilities:
Preparation of various financial reports on a monthly basis, including financial statement preparation for select business units
Responsible for consolidation of Business Segment Results and preparation of Monthly Financial Operations Report
Assistance with maintenance of select financial records, including preparation of journal entries and detailed general ledger account reconciliations
Preparation of financial forecasts and pro-forma/budgeted expenditure development and maintenance and overall variance analysis
Working closely with senior management, this role will also explain and deliver the period-end results to managers within the business unit
Assist with preparation of annual budgets and financial analyses for various departments
Calculate, analyze and report metrics around key operational areas including Direct Operating Income, Cash Flow and Return on Net Assets

Requirements:
4-year degree in Accounting or Finance
Professional accounting designation or advanced degree preferred (i.e. CPA)
3-5 years of experience and in depth knowledge of accounting procedures & accounting systems
Able to thrive in an often fast paced, deadline oriented business
Expert knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
Excellent analytical abilities, conceptual thinking, communication and interpersonal skills are expected
Oracle and Hyperion experience required with advanced financial reporting skills

Assistant Controller – CPA – Desoto TX

Our Desoto, TX client is seeking an Assistant Controller- Manufacturing.  The Assistant Controller will direct the company’s accounting and financial reporting policies in a manner that properly reflects the financial position of the company and is in accordance with US GAAP requirements.  As a key member of the management team, the Assistant Controller will serve as the lead on developing the accounting infrastructure, standardizing processes, ensuring tax compliance, and preparing analyses as needed.

Responsibilities:
Direct all company accounting processes and functions, including timely and accurate recording
and reporting of all financial transactions and system reconciliations.
Drive a timely month-end close process, quarterly reviews and annual audits.
Prepare US GAAP multi-location and combined financial statements.
Develop key financial policies and procedures, including implementing and maintaining the policies.
Ensure that accounting activities and reporting are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and company procedures.
Assist VP Controller with all accounting matters including advising other departments on policy structures, with respect to accounting and tax reporting implications.
Drive the annual and quarterly budget process and provide monthly reporting versus plan including rate/volume/other variance detail.
Manage the internal and external reporting, general ledger analysis, process and standards development, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset management, taxes, and insurance.
Analyze profit and loss drivers within the business and identify cost control measures and initiatives to ensure that the organization is run in a cost-effective manner.
Manage the relationship with external auditors.
Support Executive Team’s reporting requirements and requests.
Conduct all recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating of department staff members.
Create and implement short and long range departmental objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Establish and maintain an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the department’s objectives and to support our financial reporting environment.
Continuously improve the accounting function, including development of staff by providing effective coaching and feedback as well as appropriate delegation to staff members; assist with administering annual reviews.

Requirements:
Current CPA Designation
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
Master’s degree preferred
5+ years leading and motivating a financial accounting team
2-5 years of relevant work experience driving corporate accounting policies in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment
High level of technical competence of US GAAP, GAAS reporting and compliance, and other accounting procedures is required
Experience with LEAN models of operation
Current on best business practices related to compliance and ethics
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Financial Modeling
Proven leader in financial reporting for a company through a period of high growth
Servant leader mentality, with ability to mentor and coach staff
Highly developed interpersonal skills, possessing an ability to work with a diverse population
Capable of critical thinking and use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions

Upstream Accounting Manager – The Woodlands TX

Our client in The Woodlands, TX is seeking an Upstream Accounting Manager on a Direct Hire basis.

This is an established global company with ample opportunity for growth.  The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of upstream accounting, previous experience with US GAAP and IFRS GAAP, CPA is a plus, and bilingual in Spanish is also a plus.

Primary Responsibilities:
Manage a team of 7-9 accountants
Supervise the general ledger, daily operations, and ensure proper reporting
Evaluate, revise, and implement policies and controls as necessary to maintain strong operational objectives and departmental compliance
Assist with planning and directing of the company’s upstream businesses through proper analysis
Manage the preparation of bank reconciliation, P/L and B/S account reconciliations, revenue and expenditure variance, year-end closing entries and audit schedules
Oversight of internal control functions
Prepare monthly investment portfolios for upstream businesses, both, domestic and select international

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or closely related field
CPA designation is preferred
10+ years of experience in O&G Accounting with at least 5 years in a Supervisory role
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS GAAP
Extensive experience in Upstream accounting functions
Previous experience with ERP software systems
Bilingual in Spanish is a big plus
Strong work ethic and a high degree of organization
Ability to work well in a global, multicultural environment

Accounting Manager-Manufacturing – Fort Worth TX

Our Fort Worth, TX client is seeking a Manufacturing Accounting Manager.  This is a newly created position, and a great opportunity.

SUMMARY:
Provide operational accounting leadership and ensure appropriate controls over inventory
The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for inventory accounting and controls at all Reverse Logistics and Repair warehouse locations including: Texas, Puerto Rico and Costa Rica. The Sr. Accounting Manager performs the duties listed below personally or through delegation to team members. The group will work closely with the Inventory Control, Purchasing and Operations teams.

Responsibilities:
Establish and ensure appropriate controls over inventory
For company owned and consigned customer product:
Review on-going cycle counts and ensure cycle count results are properly recorded in the inventory sub-ledger.
Work with Sr. Manager of Inventory Control to coordinate periodic physical inventory procedures and reconcile book values to physical inventory results.
Implement systemic and/or process changes to ensure all inventory transactions are properly accounted for in the RLR business in order to eliminate “stranded parts” and “negative consumption” and minimize shrinkage and leakage of lost billing opportunities.
Develop, implement and direct processes to ensure compliance with Corporate Policies.
Assist in the documentation, evaluation and remediation of control infrastructure to ensure compliance with SOX and SOC-1 requirements.
Ensure inventory is appropriately accounted for in our ERP
Ensure proper inventory cutoff at period ends.
Make recommendations for optimizing the existing ERP (MAS500) for inventory accounting related transactions.
Lead and execute all month-end close activities for the inventory accounting group
Review all journal entries created by direct reports for completeness and accuracy
Lead the daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation of inventory balances
Provide follow-up on vendor receipt or payment issues
Provide operational accounting support to the Reverse Logistics and Repair business
Perform periodic audits of accounting system, payroll system, time and attendance system, and internal reporting.
Review time and attendance system and labor reports for accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Prepare daily, weekly, period end operational performance reports with comments and recommendations for corrective actions (KPI’s)
Drive process improvement changes to insure the Company is meeting or exceeding the current and future business requirements.
Establish alliances with external partners and internal groups to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
Work on special projects relating to operations when requested.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance
CPA or MBA preferred
10 plus years of increasing responsibilities in a manufacturing environment with inventory management/cost accounting/process improvement roles.
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and experience with developing controls over inventory in a manufacturing environment.
Spanish language skills preferred

Financial Analyst – Non Profit – Dallas TX

Our Dallas, TX client is seeking a Financial Analyst – Non Profit.  This person will participate in the annual budget process, participates in the long term planning, work on special projects as assigned, and provide analytical business support to a rapidly growing organization.  

Responsibilities:
Participate in annual budget planning process, working closely with school leaders and executive management team
Providing analysis to senior management
Providing analysis of key metrics, measures and operating cash flow
Analysis of economics related to business initiatives
Assist in preparation and presentation of annual operating and capital budget to meet TEA requirements
Assist in design, implementation, and enhancement of accurate and timely reporting in order to support effective operations of the schools
Assist in developing and enhancing new/improved systems and processes to effectively manage the financials
Assist in the development and refinement of the long term financial model
Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial and other data required for facilities financing
Prepare monthly financial analysis for each school

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting or related field; MBA or CPA a plus
2+ years experience in financial planning and analysis and/or cost accounting
Experience at preparation, presentation and monitoring of multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets
Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Possess strong quantitative and analytical skills
Possess strong leadership skills
Be highly organized and detail oriented
Be self-driven and process oriented
Possess excellent written, oral, and presentation skills; interpersonal and diplomatic skills
Be comfortable and experienced in dealing with senior levels of management
Possess strong ability to interact and build relationships with a diverse set of internal stakeholders
Be team driven and service oriented

Our client in Dallas, TX Is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant.  The selected candidate will have the following skill set:

Duties/responsibilities
Perform assigned tasks in the technical areas of a project to assist in the completion of client work
Effectively communicate with team members and clients
Understands complex tax issues and the application to client situations and transactions
Ability to train and supervise staff and interns
Ability to manage a large number of projects and provide timely deliverables to clients
Plan, prepare and review complex tax returns and financial statements

Qualifications
An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or an undergraduate or graduate degree with sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examination
3-5 years experience working in public accounting or similar environment

Senior SEC Reporting Accountant – Dallas TX

Our client in Dallas, TX is looking for a Senior SEC Reporting Accountant.  The selected candidate will have the following skill set:

Job Description:
The Senior SEC Reporting Accountant works closely with Financial and Accounting staff, Audit, Tax, Treasury, Investor Relations, and other corporate departments. This position plays an integral role in the preparation of external financial reports, including SEC Forms 10-K and 10-Q.

Job Responsibilities:
Prepares financial statements, footnotes and other disclosures as needed for SEC Forms 10-K and 10-Q, and other SEC filings as needed.
Assists in technical accounting research and the preparation of supporting documentation, analyses and accounting whitepapers for asset impairment tests, restructuring plans, segment reporting, hedging & derivatives and other technical accounting matters as needed.
Prepares quarterly statement of cash flows and statement of stockholders equity.
Performs detailed review of XBRL tagging to ensure compliance with SEC requirements.
Prepares monthly weighted average share calculation for EPS.
Assists in the execution of quarterly SOX sub-certification process.
Consolidates information received from 75+ field locations for use in required 10-K/10-Q disclosures.
Coordinates with external auditors for quarterly reviews and year-end audit process.
Provides support for quarterly earnings release process as needed.
Provides support for the annual Proxy statement filing as needed.
Assists with special projects and other duties as needed.

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.  An advanced degree in Accounting is desired.
Minimum of 4 years related experience (will consider candidates who have completed 4 busy seasons). Work experience in Big 4/public accounting or combination of Big 4/public accounting and industry strongly preferred. Minimum of 2+ years experience with SEC filings.
CPA required.
Knowledge of Hyperion and JD Edwards considered a plus, but not required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively interface with multiple levels of management, are critical to success in this role.

Our Dallas, TX client is seeking a Senior Accountant/Accounting Supervisor.

Responsibilities:
Supervise accounting staff of  2 – 4 professionals
Provide accurate and timely reporting of sales and inventory information, analyze product cost data, monitor/reconcile terminal and warehouse inventory, and ensure integrity and accuracy of month end accounting close process
Support business and manufacturing locations with analysis, as required
Assist on terminal and warehouse inventory physical audits
Provide support for external audits, government and tax reporting

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (with a minimum of 21 hours of Accounting)
5 – 8 years of professional accounting experience
Excellent proficiency with Excel
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
MBA or CPA
Accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Supervisory experience
Proficiency in SAP (FI/CO, MM, PA modules)
Familiarity with system integration and reporting systems (TM1, Business Warehouse, Hyperion)

Project Accountant – Houston TX

Our Downtown Houston, TX client is seeking a Project Accountant on a Direct Hire basis.

 

This position will report directly to the Project Director and will be the dedicated finance contact point for the project team.  The ideal candidate is an Accounting professional with previous experience in major projects, plant turnarounds or equivalent.  Necessary skills include Project Management, reporting, financial modeling and analysis, data analysis, and advanced SAP.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
Establish detailed spend forecasts in conjunction with project team members
Consolidation of all elements of the project for overall project assessment including actual costs incurred relative to forecast and forecast spend to go
Establish finance policies and procedures for the project including all relevant accounting standard considerations
Reconciliation of financial information to subsidiary systems including general ledgers, procurement systems, prolog and prism
Preparation and reporting of periodic (monthly) cash flow forecasts for the total project, coordinating with Group Treasury to ensure funding is managed to meet commitments
Support and hold all areas of the project accountable in cost control
Ensure there is a robust process in forecasting costs to go on the project
Manage internal and external audit requirements
Design and preparation of periodic reporting for the Steering Committee and Board
Providing financial support to all areas of the project including hedging and leasing considerations where relevant
Establish procedures on inventory / asset controls (fixed asset register)
Manage transition to and set up off site manufacturing controls and systems
Critical role in spend management including:
Participation in commitment request reviews
Management of third party cost control system operator – Projects Control Manager

 

Primary Requirements:
B.S degree with major in Finance or Accounting and advanced degree (CPA)
7+ years in Project Accounting or equivalent
Previous Supervisory or Lead experience
Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, fluid environment
Strong work ethic and high level of integrity
Must be available for light, domestic travel  (2-3 overnights a month)
