Our Fort Worth, TX client is seeking a Technical Writer on a Direct Hire basis. A background in commercial or industrial construction is ideal.

FUNCTION
The Technical Writer is responsible for composing, arranging and editing construction and design/engineering bid solicitations. This involves the gathering information from pertinent personnel, online research, as well as by referencing past proposals. Additionally, the Technical Writer updates and manages a database of past performance records, maintains the company website, creates/edits marketing presentations and other writing/editing duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate with the Company Controller to assess priority level of upcoming proposals
Coordinate with Project Managers to assess appropriate strategies for creating construction and design/build proposals
Research contract requirements via published OSHA and other governmental organization material
Research successful past performance proposals for effectiveness of proposal strategies
Compose content for the company website
Review proposals with construction managers and other pertinent personnel
Manage company documentation, including company information such as resumes and job descriptions
Edit existing marketing materials and gather information from pertinent personnel to create new marketing presentations
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors’ degree, preferably in English or Writing, or construction-related degree with demonstrably equivalent writing experience.
Advanced writing, proofreading, and editing skills the ability to organize information according to changing, specific instructions is essential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to perform a variety of work assignments efficiently and accurately while under pressure and in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions
Working knowledge of business English, spelling and grammar
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and the general public
Strong organizational skills
Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidential information
A high degree of customer service skills are required when interfacing with customers to gather information from subcontractors or government representatives
MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work requires sitting, standing, stooping, bending and walking. Position requires photocopying, faxing and filing various correspondence, documents and reports.
Work is varied in nature and is performed with frequent interruptions. Work requires paying extremely close attention to detail and accuracy.
Vision acuity in front of CRT screen for extended periods of time
Ability to receive process and follow through on multiple requests from management
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
The Technical Writer will perform duties in temperature-controlled, well-ventilated and well-lit office.
