Our Addison, TX client is seeking an Underwriting Assistant on a contract to possible hire basis.

Position Summary:
Under immediate supervision, perform routine tasks to assist in the processing and renewal of policies and contracts for the underwriting department. 

Key Responsibilities:
Print all faxes received for the department from the fax server and local fax machine.  Sort and distribute received facsimiles
Receive, match with the appropriate file, and distribute all incoming mail, including interoffice mail
Log in all received cases and verify if the case is a duplicate or a renewal. Set up a case file which includes contacting TPA/Broker for missing information, input appropriate SIC code, and creating a file folder. Once complete forward case to assigned Underwriting Assistant for processing
Distribute received cases between the departmental teams
Daily filing and follow-up on missing cases from the File Room
Daily prepare numerous generic quote files for Underwriters use
Input all data from received cases into the system.  Code case data appropriately for employee’s on COBRA and retired employees. Mark-out the part-time employee’s and employee’s not participating in the health plan for each case. Follow correct coding procedures for plans with life quotes, less than 300 employees, over 300 employees and less than 50 employees
Maintain required documentation on all RFP’s and policy renewals in system, manual files and scanned document storage
Perform other general clerical duties such as copying, filing, faxing, scanning, ordering supplies, and operating departmental office equipment
Follow work plans, established timelines, and pre-defined goals for assigned work
Meet commitments on deadlines
Develop strong customer focus and high service level relationship with clients
Perform work thoroughly in a cost efficient manner and at a high productivity level
Utilize company resources effectively
Comply with all corporate policies and procedures
Take all reasonable steps to safeguard company assets against waste, loss, unauthorized use and misappropriation
Report breakdown in controls to a Supervisor or Manager

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Up to two years of relevant experience
Possess and have ability to apply basic knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures
Good written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
Good organizational and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)
