Our client in Carrollton, TX Is looking for a Virtual Designer on a direct hire basis:

As a Senior Virtual Designer you will create drawings and building models (BIM) for various types of industrial processes and mechanical systems utilizing a computer-aided drafting system.  Types of designs include new and retro-fit construction within the alternative energy, chemical processing, food and beverage, industrial manufacturing, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, power, semiconductor and water/wastewater markets.

Responsibilities:
Perform routine tasks and complex assignments applying advanced knowledge of computer-aided drafting system standards, practices, and techniques.
Apply judgment and sound decision-making with respect to developing new drawings and models.
Work with 2-D drawings, 3-D models and conceptual layouts to produce clear, complete and accurate documents.
Determine basic engineering calculations related to routine drafting challenges such as stress, sizing, support and flexibility.
Collaborate closely with engineering department during model creation on design/build projects.
Perform quality assurance/quality control checks on models. Analyze design for conformity to standard industry and engineering department practices.
Attend design reviews and related project meetings, as required. Effectively communicate with internal and external customers during the drafting and construction process.
Update models to reflect as-built conditions. Manage project files and project documentation as required per company standards.
Develop increased proficiency in design system operation (with a resulting increase in productivity). Become adept at utilizing all software options.

Qualifications & Experience:
8+ years’ experience performing computer-aided drafting
Working knowledge of 3-D drafting software
3-5 years’ experience drawing mechanical systems in industrial construction is required!
Proficient in the preparation of piping and other mechanical systems drawing, requiring a high degree of expertise and judgment
Outstanding organizational and solid communication skills
Commitment to detail, deadlines and maintaining labor estimates
Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work well individually and as part of a team
Must be able to travel to active construction job sites when needed for
