Director of Payroll and Benefits Role:
The Director of Payroll and Benefits will direct Benefits and Payroll staff supporting 2200+ employees in multi-states and locations.
Plan and direct implementation of payroll/compensation, employee benefits programs, retirement and other benefit plans
Oversight of multi-state domestic payroll for 2200+ employees
HRIS/Payroll Systems oversight
Lead and manage the payroll and benefits team consisting of 3-4 people
Subject Matter Expert for Payroll and Benefits functions; systems, legislation, IRS rules
Maintain and manage Payroll vendor relationships
Create and develop Payroll processes to ensure efficiency of department
Oversee daily Payroll department operations and Payroll Specialists
Manage systems updates, processes and functionality of Payroll system
Manage employee onboarding and offboarding paperwork related to Payroll
Manage Open Enrollment annually for company; reviewing Benefit vendor rates, facilitate Open Enrollment meetings for employees and ensure accuracy of information submitted to carrier through benefits broker
Stays current on legislation and market trends for all Benefits programs benchmarks, and ensures company is competing with cost efficient programs
Maintain and Manage Benefits broker and vendor relationships; collaborating with broker on design, costs and management of overall benefits programs
Oversee the administration of Benefits and employee insurance plans: medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, STD, LTD, COBRA, 401K and deferred compensation
Ensure timely filing of all plan compliance documents and maintain up-to-date records; as well as ensure employee plan communications meet regulatory requirements; ie. Form 5500, Form 990, etc.
Recommend and implement necessary changes to Benefits procedure and policy
Manage employee onboarding and offboarding paperwork related to the billing process to ensure timely payment of Benefits related invoices
Participate in other HR, Payroll or Benefits projects as assigned or other duties as assigned
Director of Payroll and Benefits Background Profile:
Bachelor’ s degree
HR and Payroll Certifications preferred
10 years’ payroll and tax experience in a large organization
Dayforce payroll HCM experience preferred OR a large payroll solution
Self-insured employee benefits experience including renewal and vendor management
401(k) Plan experience
HRIS/Payroll oversight
Experience with payroll processing with multi-state jurisdictional payroll tax laws
Experience with managing and resolving issues with existing technologies
High attention to detail and customer service oriented
Excellent organization and time management skills
Self-motivated and ability to work well within a fast paced environment with strict deadlines
Solid Excel skills, knowledge of pivot tables and v-lookups
Strong Analytical/Problem solving abilities
Ability to work with minimal supervision and experience with managing a team
