Our Sparta, TN client is looking to hire Engineering Design / Auto CAD Drafter on a temp to hire basis.
Job Summary:
Design, draw and quote revised or new end products, machinery & equipment as needed. Apply theory and principles of engineering science and technology to develop, modify, and test products, machinery, equipment & processes. Coordinate with the customers, vendors, sales, engineering, manufacturing and tool shops to accomplish same.
Essential Functions:
- Draw new and existing parts in 2D & 3D solid models with AutoDesk AutoCAD and Inventor CAD software.
- Read and interpret vendor and customer drawings and convert to 3D models.
- Read and interpret material specifications.
- Create as built drawings from actual samples and sketches.
- Build and maintain part bills of materials in Mapics.
- Assist and advise with prototype trials.
- Work to improve the operations by discussing changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly and drafting techniques with others.
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, & Access to document and track engineering requests.
- Maintain the drafting department work history in Mapics.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Two years of designing related experience
- AutoDesk, AutoCAD 2011 and Inventor CAD software required
- General Industrial Manufacturing Background
- Plastics Background a plus
- Support continuous improvement efforts to “stream-line” departmental and organizational needs.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
- Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Other:
The flow of work and duties performed require above average mental and visual attention, and the ability to “multi-task”. The Designer position requires a high level of professionalism due in part to the daily interaction with all aspects of our business. Advanced interpersonal skills are a success factor. This is normally acquired by a minimum or two years of designing experience in a equivalent position. The educational requirements are a minimum of a two -year degree plus additional specialized training. The job is mostly in the office; but, has some exposure to the shop floor as well.
