Our Northwest Houston, TX client is in need of a Quality Control Engineering Technician for a contract to hire opportunity.

Objective:

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for maintaining quality inspection processes, including product testing, recording and analyzing results data to ensure all procured and manufactured products physically and functionally conform to Engineering design specifications. The incumbent interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.  The incumbent helps lead lean and continuous improvement initiatives by recommending modifications to existing design specifications and production processes to optimize production efficiency and quality results.  The holder of this position possesses specific knowledge and skills in the area of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, inventory control, product reliability, research and development.

Position Scope
Selects products for testing at specified stages in the production process.  This may include dimensional checks, performance, mechanical, electrical or chemical characteristics.
Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams and/or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
Inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products.
Performs root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
Analyzes failure and initiates corrective/preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
Focuses on continuous improvement of QA receiving inspection processes and procedures.
Ensures timely resolution of supplier failures thru prompt corrective actions and preventive actions.
Records test and inspection data to generate periodic report of quality performance.  Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.
Ensures all tools and equipment are properly calibrated and identified with a valid date.
Develops training to build quality awareness.
Follows through on all audit findings and work with responsible parties to determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
Assists Director-QA to create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
Supports the New Product Development Team with 1st article inspection as assigned.
Interfaces with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data.
Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required and assigned.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
3 years minimum of experience in quality control and inspection.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Knowledge of quality control standards such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Statistical Quality Control (SQM) and ISO 9000.
Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to work independently plus strong organizational and communications skills.

Preferences:

Education and Experience:
College degree with training in technical field is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, and CSA standards a plus.
Certification from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) is a big plus.
Self-motivated team worker with excellent work ethics and attitude.
Working knowledge of Lotus Notes.
Working Knowledge of Visio & AutoCAD. (Inventor would be a plus as well)
