Our Galleria area Houston, TX client is seeking a long term contract Commercial Paralegal.

Job Overview:

The successful candidate for this job will work with attorneys, Commercial Managers and Regional Customer Team members, other paralegals and administrative professionals to assist in providing legal services and Law support to the Commercial and Operations organizations.  In addition, he or she will need to effectively apply contract and company policy knowledge and utilize organizational and commercial skills to efficiently respond to a wide variety of issues.  The ability to communicate well with a broad range of company employees and external contracts, in seeking and providing information is essential.

The ability to rapidly learn the organization and to efficiently review a significant volume of documents and contracts, while maintaining well organized records, are a cornerstone of this job.  The position requires ability to handle multiple tasks independently to produce accurate, timely and effective results.  Responsiveness and follow-through are critical to success in this role, as well as good organizational skills. The successful candidate must understand and be able to work with contract language.

Responsibilities:

Manage Licensing and Contracts Docket for Law.

Draft, review, negotiate and coordinate approval/signature of agreements for Commercial & Operations groups under responsible attorney supervision.

Assist in management of Export Control program.

Coordinate project management with lead attorney and attend internal reviews as requested.

Assist attorneys in contract and bid reviews and fulfilling bid requirements.

Develop knowledge of Delegation of Authority and other internal policies and other applicable processes.

Develop and administer the Law Department webpage on company Intranet.

Assist in intellectual property and Corporate Secretary matters on an ad hoc basis.

Skills and Experience:

5+ years of experience and Bachelors degree. Paralegal Certificate is not required, but desired. A commitment to obtain Paralegal Certification within two years is required.

Self-starter, high level of initiative and ability to self-monitor.

Excellent interpersonal and organization skills, ability to independently facilitate workflow across multiple functional groups.

Ability to prioritize a continually changing workload to meet business needs across multiple clients/projects.

With respect to commercial licensing activity and other projects, candidate must have the ability to identify the big picture and requisite level of detail and anticipate future needs of both the attorney and business client.

Strong understanding of contract language; experience with license, confidentiality and commercial agreements.

Ability to work well with international co-workers, partners, and customers.

High sensitivity to confidential matters and basic working knowledge of trade secrets, patents and trademarks.
