MAIN PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

Execute existing ongoing Controller responsibilities while managing critical organizational projects including establishment of key accounting functions in-house, implementation of new financial applications, and ensuring compliance with current & upcoming software revenue recognition standards.

MAIN ASSIGNMENT DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage established accounting functions in the areas of revenue recognition, AR, GL, contract review, etc.
  • Orchestrate projects to bring key accounting functions (Payroll, AP, Treasury, Tax, purchase card, etc) in-house and hire/train personnel for ongoing support of these functions; this will involve structuring policies, procedures, and controls necessary for best practices in these areas.
  • Assist in financial applications migrations (general ledger, timesheet reporting, etc).
  • Develop & document financial and administrative policies and procedures which will ensure the timely and accurate recognition of business in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SOP 97-2 and subsequent Software Revenue Recognition guidelines.
  • Responsible for month-end accounting close and reporting in all balance sheet, subledger, revenue, & cash flow areas.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely processing of commissions
  • Responsible for accurate and timely customer invoicing and application of customer payments
  • Assume primary role in coordinating financial/revenue audits
  • Implement strategies for dealing with multiple company priorities while meeting critical deadlines for achieving financial goals.
  • Responsible for ongoing training required. Identify strengths and weaknesses of current staff for the formulation of ongoing training plans and appropriate evaluation measures.
  • Provides consistent professional direction to employees and help build positive effective interdepartmental communications to ensure process effectiveness.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Interpersonal communication skills to interact with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong project management experience in areas of accounting systems migration;
  • Experience structuring policies, procedures, & controls in establishment of new functional areas
  • Experience hiring appropriate, effective personnel to support newly created positions/functions
  • Strong problem solving abilities using reasoning, logic and experience.
  • Requires the ability to act independently and to follow through on assignments.
  • Experience with Great Plains a plus

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE

  • BBA in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA
  • Extensive knowledge of VSOE concepts, SOP-97-2, GAAP and subsequent software revenue recognition guidelines

JOB EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years’ supervisory experience preferred.
  • 5+ years’ business administration experience preferred.
  • 5+ years’ accounting experience preferred.
