Our NW Houston, TX client is looking for a GIS Analyst for a long term contract opportunity.

Scope:
Under moderate supervision, the GIS Analyst creates, organizes, and updates a wide variety of Geographic Information System
(GIS) data sets. This includes such components as queries, system interfaces (import/export),
street centerlines and addressing, boundaries, and other spatial databases for Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
This is a professional level position with primary responsibilities being the creation,
manipulation and maintenance of geo-spatial data. This includes geo-spatial data editing in a Spatial Database Engine (SDE)
environment using ESRI ArcGIS software, data editing using geo-databases and shape-files, user support, GIS data editing,
data collection support, map production, and geo-spatial data workflow analysis to support multi-user editing environments.

Essential Functions:
Continually creates, updates, and maintains GIS databases by integrating new street centerlines and addresses from
digital files or paper maps/plats provided by the entities or from data collected in the field;
Assists in research, compilation of data, accurate and timely data entry, heads-up digitizing,
address point placement, interpreting, validating and cleaning data, rectifying GIS data to aerial photography,
and maintaining data accuracy for map production.
Performs a variety of assignments including accurately creating, compiling, reformat and processing GIS data;
Evaluates the accuracy of the data acquired to ensure quality assurance/quality control;
Assists with special projects and perform other duties as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to Associates Degree (A.A.) in GIS, surveying, geography,
planning, cartography or closely related field, and three or more years experience in a GIS position utilizing the
principles and practices of GIS is required.
Knowledge of multi-faceted disciplines which contribute to the implementation of the GIS application,
such as emergency preparedness, infrastructure, transportation, addressing and local government is preferred.
Some experience and exposure in GIS application development utilizing (asp.net, C#, Microsoft Silverlight,
Adobe Flex)
Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) scripting language to retrieve data from relational database
management systems in MS SQL Server;
Familiarity with ArcObjects/VBA/Python scripting and programming
Considerable knowledge and experience with the core ESRI GIS software products, specifically ArcGIS Desktop,
Arc/Info, ArcSDE, and relational databases within MS SQL Server.
Knowledge of methods, procedures, technology of ArcGIS Desktop, spatial data, fundamentals of cartography,
relational database, and general computer systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Possess strong analytical skills and be highly detail-oriented.
Ability to communicate effectively, either verbally or written, with technical and non¬technical professionals.
Working knowledge and experience with hardware-related issues
Possess a valid Texas driver’s license and have a good driving record.
