Our client in Dallas, TX is looking for a Geoscience Applications Administrator. The selected candidate will have the following skill set:

Position Overview:
The Geoscience Application Advisor will work as a business partner in a client services capacity to administer the Geology and Geoscience Applications for the Exploration, Development and Technical Service departments (Internal Clients). The primary goal of the position is to provide daily hands on support to maximum productivity, availability, performance and smooth operation of the Geoscience Applications. The position will be responsible for the installing, maintaining, documenting, training and supporting all Geoscience Applications throughout the company.

Job Responsibilities:
Collaborate with internal clients to define technical requirements and system goals, and identify and resolve business system issues
Assist in the planning, design, development, quality review, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing Exploration, Technical Services and Development applications
Proactively evaluate and recommend new application technologies for the productivity enhancement for clients
Provide orientation and training to internal clients for all existing and new systems
Assist in the development of documentation, training material and rollout delivery of new applications to enhance technology adoption and increase uptake of the software
Perform hands-on fixes on applications, including installing, upgrading software, and configuring the software
Communicate application problems and issues to key clients
Perform preventative maintenance, including the installation of service packs, patches, and hot fixes required for the specific clients’ applications
Provide technical application stewardship: responsible for the administration functions of an application, including user administration, application maintenance and sustainability and vendor relationship management
Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including reviews, of new systems

Requirements:
5-7 years of recent hands-on experience as a Geoscience Application Administrator required
Certifications preferred
2-5 years of experience implementing, optimizing and /or supporting Geoscience applications in an Administrative role required
Oil and Gas Exploration/Petroleum industry experience required
Experience supporting the following Geoscience applications: Schlumberger-Petrel & PDS View, Hampson-Russell-HRS, NeuraView-Neuralog, IHS-Kingdom, ERSI-ArcGIS, ZetaWare-Trinity & Genesis, ffA- SVI Pro, WellHub-Wellwizard, and Weatherford-Visean
Prior experience supporting Geoscience users on functionality, problems, and/or usability issues on applications and systems
Help Desk/Change Request configuration management experience required
Must possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies
Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
Must be an engaged, motivated, “hands on” team player
Must effectively prioritize their time to meet their deliverables

Education:
Bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science or information systems
