Frontline Source Group – temporary staffing and direct hire firm – is looking for an IT Infrastructure Manager for our Houston, TX client, near Katy, on a Direct Hire basis.
Description
Assigns, schedules, and manages the duties of Infrastructure team associates.
Managing a team of DBAs
Assigns team members to the Database, Back-up, AIX, Linux or IBM i-based projects that are tasked to IT Infrastructure.
Schedules and manages the projects assigned to the Infrastructure team.
Provides guidance and assistance to associates as needed.
Effectively communicate status of technology projects and system performance to the Manager Sr. IT Infrastructure.
Manages and participates in the design, development and support of AIX, Linux and IBM i-based technology systems with a focus on back-end infrastructure including database, operating system and enterprise hardware.
Manage the Infrastructure team members in the use and maintenance of the processes that are in place to maintain system configuration data, capacity and availability.
Manage server and peripheral administration including backup and restore processes and the maintenance of compliance levels on all operating system Service Packs.
Monitors performance at all levels of system operations.
Keep abreast of IT industry trends and developments to help identify potential new technologies for the improvement of company’s systems infrastructure.
Some travel may be required.
Required to learn company policies, procedures and safety rules.
Duties may change and associates may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience
Previous DBA experience is preferred
5+ years Information Technology experience required, including experience with hardware and software installations.
5+ years experience with the maintenance of at least four of the following:
IBM pSeries & AIX/Linux
Intel/AMD Linux/Unix server installations
Windows Server installations
IBM iSeries OS & server installations
Server Virtualization
SAN/NAS storage systems
Server Peripherals
Database technologies
Active Directory and DNS
Lotus Domino/Notes email and database installations
Data back-up technologies
LDAP technologies
A solid understanding of:
System configuration and engineering practices
System administration practices
Network and Communication methods
Network and system security methods
SMTP / EMAIL support on a large network *LI-JW1
