Our client in Grand Prairie, TX Is looking for a Manufacturing Development Engineer:

The primary mission of this position is to work on a project team over the next few years to automate machining, welding and assembly processes in a manufacturing plant. This position will evolve into a role in tool design and continuous improvement related activities. Business Intelligence with regards to new technologies in manufacturing and preliminary feasibility studies is a central part of this role.
In this role the position will work as part of the manufacturing team reporting directly to the Project Manager.

This position will have direct responsibility for participating on or leading teams to address automation of a variety of manufacturing processes.  This position will participate in evaluating existing production equipment, new capital investments, manufacturing methods, automation opportunities, process improvements, systems and development of specific areas or projects assigned.

Essential functions
Make improvements to existing processes; investigate and utilize new technologies and processes where appropriate
Must have experience with and be able to demonstrate success utilizing automation to improve processes
Design cell layouts utilizing lean manufacturing principles, ergonomics and flow analysis
Determine the operations required, estimates setup and cycle times
Specify cutting tools and operating conditions to maximize the efficiency of the operation
Design tools and fixtures for the processing of mechanical components
Manage projects effectively based on agreed templates/formats
Work closely with Design Engineering to improve the quality of engineering output to shop

Experience requirements
Experience in automation and production machine operations essential for this role
Manufacturing background with a focus on lean manufacturing concepts
Minimum of five years’ experience working with production or manufacturing engineering roles

Knowledge
Technical and practical knowledge of manufacturing operations in lathe, 5 axis mills, drills, grinding and assembly.  Tool design background.

Educational requirements
Bachelor degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering / Mechanical Engineering preferred

Computer Skills
Working knowledge of Pro-Engineer / Pro-Manufacture software
Proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Power Point

Other Requirements
Working knowledge of industrial robots and automation techniques
Working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems (Movex preferred)
Knowledge of welding and assembly processes is a plus
