Our South Houston, TX client is seeking a contract-to-possible-hire Mechanical Engineer who is proficient in SolidWorks (2D & 3D).
REQUIRED SKILLS:
The successful candidate will possess the knowledge and experience to accomplish the following engineering tasks:
Design of specialized computer controlled robotic systems and other mechanical devices.
Development of all general arrangement drawings required for product design and manufacturing (customer drawings).
The successful candidate will possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Some examples include:
Ability to work as a member of a team to discuss, develop, and analyze designs.
Ability to author technical reports and procedure manuals.
The successful candidate will possess the following computer skills:
2-8 years experience with mechanical design/drafting in Solidworks (Proficient in Solidworks). Proficiency must include the ability to create detailed drawings with all required information to complete fabrication and installation (weld symbols, material specifications, dimensioning & tolerances, etc). .
Proficiency with 3D modeling using SolidWorks is a must. Again, proficiency must include the ability to create complete fabrication details (2D & 3D).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience working with the process of machining parts is a plus.
Experience with Mold and Mold Design (aluminum, plastic, silicone, etc.) is a plus.
Experience with the design and operation of high temperature systems such as burners, gasifiers, etc., is a major advantage. Knowledge of burner systems, refractory materials, and combustion/gasification processes is highly desired.
Experience with ceramics and/or ceramic material is also a plus.
This position will give the employee the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the manufacturing process. The work environment is light manufacturing. We are involved in highly specialized projects and therefore products are more detailed, but low volume. Work attire is casual (khakis/jeans and a polo shirt).
