Our Richardson, TX client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer on an immediate basis.  We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running, act independently, “roll with it” when things are not exactly as planned, and can handle themselves in front of a customer.   Ability to travel is required.

Responsibilities:
Plan, Execute and Control cost effective, high value client engagements that create client satisfaction and repeat engagements to assure Company growth and profitability.
Secure, Maintain and Document technical solutions to develop a knowledge base that supports continuous improvement of client service delivery.
Effectively Employ, Control and Safeguard the physical and financial assets of the company including expenses, inventory, tools and client devices in Company’s custody.
Design and implementation of complex routed and switched IP networks encompassing multiple VLANS and multiple physical locations (MAN/WAN).  This includes routing protocols such as OSPF & BGP and interfacing with carriers (i.e. Route redistribution, carrying Internet routing tables, etc).
Design & deploy QoS capabilities for networks carrying voice and video traffic.
Design & implementation of wireless LAN networks – layout of access points maximizing coverage / client traffic requirements, client authentication against LDAP and/or Active Directory databases, guest access capabilities.  Strong troubleshooting capabilities to cover things post-implementation.
An ability to work with equipment from multiple vendors.  Expectation is not to be an expert on everything, but must be willing to work with unfamiliar devices.  For example, the commands to configuring VLANs on a HP switch are different than those on a Cisco switch (or Brocade or Juniper).  However, a good understanding of one can generally figure it out for the others in short order (drawing on the expertise of our other engineers to get started).
Ability to travel is required.  May be on the road installing equipment in New York, Ohio, Texas, Florida etc.   Much of this work must be performed after hours, such as 12 midnight to 4 am, as it involves touching production networks.  The person must be available the next morning when the customer shows up for work in case there are any issues.  Depending on the scope of the project the person may be traveling alone or as part of a deployment team.
Weekly status reports / team meetings, submit time cards, project tracking (close tickets when work finished, etc), keeping good expense records when traveling, etc.  Things that must be tracked as it may be billed back to clients.
