Our Grapevine, TX client is seeking a Sr. Informix Database Administrator, on a contract basis, to perform company live site database administration, key responsibilities include ensuring the on-going operation and improvement of the group’s databases, monitoring, deploying changes, incident management, disaster recovery, guiding development and standardization of database platforms.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide 1st level support for production, development, and quality assurance & test database environments, on multiple database platforms.
Working with Development and Service Delivery teams to ensure the delivery of key database projects to the business and technical teams.
Working with Data Architecture, Development, and Support teams to continually improve the support and efficiency of company database infrastructure.
Support and where necessary create standardized processes, within your area, for request management, project stakeholder communications, on-call rotas, operational procedures, etc.
Supervise change management and create a central point of knowledge for all company database systems.

Requirements:
At least 5 years experience in database administration of SQL Server or Informix databases and at least one other platform.
Operational database experience for an e-commerce website.
Good SQL Server technical skills, versions 2000-2008 or Informix technical skills, versions 10, 11.
Database development experience; SQL, procedure language.
Effective communication across a technical operations group and liaison with business stakeholders, development teams, and quality assurance teams.
Good understanding of e-commerce technology.

Desirable Skills:
ITIL foundation.
E-commerce development experience.
Scripting languages (batch script, shell script, perl); Java/JDBC
Experience in database administration of at least one of; Oracle, MySQL or Progress.
Experience with on-line travel technologies.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of various database technologies, including SQL Server, Informix, MySQL, Oracle, Progress. Good knowledge of project delivery fundamentals, database operations, change management and a solid Windows or Unix/Linux foundation.  Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
