Our Conroe, TX client is seeking a Structural Engineer on a direct hire basis.
This position requires thorough knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques. This individual is responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Will devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, and accepted engineering practices.
Typical Duties:
Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:
Civil/Structural engineering calculations
Civil/Structural engineering plans, design, and layout
Civil/Structural project specifications
Civil/Structural engineering portion of project proposals
Civil/Structural engineering portion of project cost estimates
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, geometric constraints, engineering skills, and contractual requirements
Provides technical direction to Detailers and Designers throughout all phases of the design process, with particular emphasis in the use of sound structural details.
Provide drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters
Research design options and document findings for project lead engineer
Review shop drawings
Interfaces on technical issues with project managers, customers and general contractors.
Monitors engineering design schedules and engineering performance against budgets
Troubleshoots and communicates with Manufacturing and Field Construction personnel during the manufacturing and installation phases of the project.
Coordinate work with other disciplines such as Field Construction, Project Management, Manufacturing, etc
Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents
Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents
Education/Experience:
4-7 years of experience in civil and/or structural engineering
Degree in Structural Engineering
Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing:
Proficient in AutoCAD, FE structural design software, SAP2000, Cosmos, and STAAD
Licensed PE is not a requirement but a definite plus
