Our client in Carrollton, TX is looking for an Systems & Network Engineer. The selected candidate will have the following skill set:
Seeking a Systems & Network Engineer to support our IT Infrastructure. This role will have responsibility for some of the server systems, and all of the networking and telecommunications systems. The person who fills this position will be expected to have strong technical knowledge in those areas and technologies. This is a position on a team of 4 infrastructure engineers and reports to the Director of IT.
Initial Role Duties and Responsibilities:
Network – Manage / Troubleshoot / Administer the following:
Cisco ASA firewalls (configuration, VPN Tunnels, VPN Client, ACLs)
Force10 Switches (edge and datacenter)
Aruba Wireless Network controllers and access points
Riverbed WAN Accelerators
Telecom
Manage a 3rd party phone system vendor and a 3rd party A/V vendor.
Manage the Time-Warner Telecom MPLS network and telecom connections.
Establish Jobsite T1 and other network connections as required
Manage all other telecom providers (billing / etc)
Jobsite Setup
Coordinate New Project Turn-up, responsible for all IT deliverables on projects
Hold Project Kick-off meetings
Server Systems – Manage / Troubleshoot / Administer the following
Orion Monitoring Server / Datacenter Environment
Websense Web Filtering & Management
Symantec AV
Windows Updates (WSUS Server)
DoubleTake Data Replication
IT Assistant
ESX / Virtualization
KACE KBox
Broad / General Duties:
Find opportunities to improve our user-experience and implement them.
Resolve issues and performance; tune and troubleshoot where necessary.
Perform maintenance, upgrades, and patches of devices and related applications.
Act as an escalation point for the desktop team.
Work project-oriented tasks as assigned.
Participate in the night-time / weekend on-call rotation and as needed (24×7) during business emergencies.
Monthly Breakdown:
Approximately 50 to 70% troubleshooting & issue resolution
Approximately 10 to 30% project management and architecture/design.
Approximately 20 to 30% implementation and roll out.
Technical Preferences (must have strong knowledge in many of these areas):
Microsoft Certified Systems Admin / MCSE level of systems & server knowledge
CCNA or equivalent level of network knowledge
Soft-skill Requirements (must have ALL of these):
Ability to manage 3rd party vendors
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Preference for a collaborative team environment
Ability to self-manage and follow through on tasks from inception to closure
Superior ability to clearly document complicated technical environments & concepts
