Our Brentwood, TN client is looking for a Websphere Application Server Engineer to join their team on a direct hire basis.

Job Summary
Responsible for administering, maintaining and supporting a multi-platform, multi-cell WebSphere Application Server environment including Network Deployment, Virtual Enterprise and WebSphere clustering

Job Responsibilities:
Perform administrative duties including Websphere installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and tuning.
Perform JAVA, WebSphere and application troubleshooting with Application Development staff or other administrators and assist with problem resolution. Analyze system performance and make recommendations for optimization.
Perform heap dump and memory usage analysis to ensure the JVM’s are running as efficiently as possible.
Perform installation, configuration, troubleshooting and tuning of IBM HTTP Server (Apache) including creating/modifying URL rewrites/redirects and creating and supporting multiple virtual host environments.
Perform modifications to the Web Server Plugin to allow for load-balancing across multiple cells.
Responsible for ensuring the WebSphere environment can be backed up and restored properly and is configured for the highest availability possible.
Responsible for maintaining documentation regarding the WebSphere environment.
Coordinates significant changes with the Help Desk and Operations change control personnel.
Performs problem determination on moderately difficult problems.
Implements systems disaster recovery plan.
Performs on-call support for assigned products.
Performs space management and capacity planning.
Works with vendor technical support.
Manages small to medium projects.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent experience
2 + years experience supporting Websphere Application Server including Network Deployment
Support of Websphere Application Server at the V5, V6, V6.1, V7 or V8 level.
Migration Experience to Websphere V7 or V8.
Working knowledge of Red Hat 6, AIX 7.1, and Windows Server OS and P-Series Hardware.
Possess a strong understanding of Java 2 Security and when/how policy files are used.
WAS monitoring and automation tools including:
CA Wily Introscope, Compuware dynaTrace, IBM ITCAM and/or BMC BladeLogic ARA.
WebSphere add-ons including WebSphere Edge Components and Portal.
WebSphere scripting.
Proficient knowledge of multiple host platforms, operating systems, monitors, network and communication protocols.
Proficient knowledge of multiple hardware configuration concepts
Strong team-building and conflict resolution skills.
Business and product knowledge.
Strong analytical skills.
