Our Woodlands TX client is in need of an Accounting Manager for a Direct Hire opportunity.

Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the company’s accounting practices and policies, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of its financial statements in accordance with GAAP.  The position involves supervision over general accounting, fixed asset accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, tax compliance, and internal controls.

Essential Functions:
Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department and recommends training.
Responsible for coordinating with external auditors and tax preparers to deliver reports in a timely manner and within budget.
Maintains the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
Furnishes internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
Determines depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.
Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
The Accounting Manager has the responsibility for providing the organization and its management with the appropriate financial and operating information necessary.  This individual and the accounting department are expected to work closely with other department groups on problems involving accounting systems and financial planning.
Among the duties of this position are management reporting and policy-making as it pertains to the Department.  In general, this individual may be looked to for technical and analytical guidance in identifying and solving problems within the functional limits of the Department.
Responsible for coordinating with parent company Accounting Department, which will include regular reporting packages as well as communication.

Additional Responsibilities:
Other responsibilities include seeing that company policy is carried out or complied with, assisting other departments in forecasting personnel and financial needs, accelerating cash receipts and controlling disbursements, overseeing bank balances, establishing and maintaining credit and collection procedures, and evaluating and implementing computerized accounting systems.

Job Qualifications:
Degree in Accounting. Big 4 experience and CPA preferred, knowledge of IFRS.
Excellent understanding of US GAAP and percentage of completion accounting.
33-5 years’ experience in Construction industry preferred.
Skill in math, accuracy and precision, understanding of business principles and practices.
Organized, willingness to follow procedures.
Honesty, patience, good written and oral communication skills.
Experience in personnel management and good people skills, be a team player.
Knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP-oriented accounting systems.
