Our The Woodlands, TX client is in need of an Application Engineer for a Contract-Hire Opportunity.
The Position:
Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, the Application Engineer will have single point accountability identify product opportunities, lead product development efforts, lead product testing efforts and ultimately deliver a qualified product available for sale.
This position will be heavily focused on long term product pipelines. In addition, this position will be accountable for managing the business wide quality initiatives.
Responsibilities and Deliverables:
Identify and grow companies Oil and Gas product lines.
Create and identify new applications in the Oil and Gas Industry.
Partner with major oil and service company’s and manufacturing facilities to identify opportunities that provide enabling technology for the customer.
Identify new products and conversion opportunities from alternate materials.
Identify, develop propose key projects.
Manage project plans and product launch activities.
Test and qualify products.
Act as key technical interface at the account.
Assist with guiding company’s Technical Center on key product attributes, design features and qualifications.
Manage the quality programs within the business unit.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in identifying, developing and delivering new product designs and products ready for manufacturing. He/she will be a technical expert and ideally will have gained a broader business perspective through various assignments in a manufacturing and product development. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of experience in product design and development in global drilling operations. The successful candidate’s education credentials require a technical undergraduate degree in engineering (mechanical, petroleum or metallurgical) with additional advanced degrees. A strong understanding of and comfort with quality systems is preferred required. Strong experience with drilling operations and associated products required, experience in the Oil and Gas market preferred.

Exceptional technical competence: The ideal candidate will have global experience leading several aspects of product design, development and launch. He/she will have experience implementing significant product launch efforts specifically in support of broader growth initiatives and in partnership with key customers. Advanced experience with aluminum is required.
Strategic orientation: The successful candidate will have the experience in developing product strategies and plans that incorporate competitive issues, trends in industry and external factors. His/her planning experience will cover a broad range of markets and address the full range of organizational implications. He/she will understand how to integrate market and competitive trends and other issues into a coherent product vision and link this vision into a series of initiatives and priorities that are compelling and logical.
Execution:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to deliver consistently outstanding design and delivery results. The candidate also will have created new approaches to existing problems that have significant impact on the customer.
People leadership:
This leader will have strong people leadership ability and the ability to grow the organization as the business grows. He/she will spend significant time with employees in the field and will routinely solicit ideas, suggestions and help in order to arrive at a better solution while reinforcing the value of the team.
