Our NW Houston, TX client is in need of a Document Control Specialist on a contract to possible hire basis.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for tracking documentation within the department. Maintains and updates logs, databases, and catalogs. Maintains files of drawings, specifications, reports, proposals and other documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Structure and maintain Bills of Material (BOM’s).
Maintain database item master files.
Process sales order documentation.
Process Engineering Change Requests & Notices (ECR & ECN).
Release engineering documentation to all departments and outside distribution.
Process engineering document & drawing releases.
Maintain engineering documentation files.
Maintain Engineering Library and technical hard-copies documents/standards
Process Custom Design Engineering Packages. Track and Update status to released stage.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in manufacturing or engineering environment.
Strong knowledge of document control processes and procedures.
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Must have engineering documentation and BOM’s (Bills of Material) experience.
Demonstrated experience using spreadsheets, word processing, and database management software.
Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
Must be able to perform a combination of clerical and administrative duties under minimal supervision, using communication skills to confer with employees at all levels within the organization, and performing a large volume of work requiring a high degree of accuracy.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
Demonstrated ability to support cross-functional team interaction.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and multi-task to meet deadlines.
Previous experience working with MRP system (i.e SAP or Oracle).
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to work independently plus strong organizational and communications skills.

DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Knowledge and experience with SAP system is highly desirable.
Able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings a big plus
Previous experience in a mechanical engineering environment with engineering documentation preferred.
Self-motivated team worker with excellent work ethics and attitude.
Previous experience in an industrial products manufacturing environment a plus.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED (or international equivalent). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software. (Lotus notes are a plus)
