Our Houston, TX client is looking for an HR Generalist on a Direct Hire basis.

This position requires a hands-on individual comfortable working in all areas of the human resources disciplines. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a startup environment as this position will require implementing HR policy & procedure, as well as an understanding of more sophisticated organization development. An individual with excellent oral and written communication skills, in-depth knowledge of human resources operations, compliance, and experience will have plenty of room to grow with this company.

Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, update, and implement the policies and procedures of the firm handbook(s) as assigned.
Prepares internal employee communications regarding company policies as assigned.
Provide direction and problem solving support to managers/attorneys on employee relation issues.
Consult with managers/attorneys to develop effective documentation for performance improvement/disciplinary documents.
Review management disciplinary actions to ensure compliance with firm policies, state and federal fair employment laws. Make alternative recommendations as appropriate.
Prepare responses to third party complaints. Coordinate with internal legal staff and the Manager of Human Resources.
Develop a strong partnership with the managers/attorneys and understand the goals and objectives make recommendations, identify solutions regarding human resources policies and practices to support departmental goals.
Assist in conducing staff new hire orientation.
Process improvements within the internal structure of the human resources department to increase efficiencies.
Assist with sophisticated Organizational development in various aspects including: Career Development, Training Programs, Performance Tracking, Personnel Development, etc.
Ability to see long-term goals and create short-term action items
Assist in developing, implementing, updating, and auditing the recruiting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Conduct performance based interview screens for staff openings.
Coordinate with the Manager of Human Resources to obtain background checks, review, and approve results.
Manage employee benefits including, but not limited to health insurance, life insurance and ST/LT Disability

Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management with related studies in Human Resources
PHR Certificate is highly desirable, but not required
5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Construction or similar industry experience is preferred
Prior experience managing Onboarding/Recruitment process
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
