Our client in Desoto, TX is looking for a Network Engineer on a contract basis 2nd or 3rd shift. The selected candidate will have the following skill set:
Position Overview:
Participates in the research, analysis, installation, maintenance, monitoring, and support of data communications infrastructure components as well as network software, firmware and operating systems. This is for a six month contract opportunity and will be assigned to work the 2nd or 3rd shift.

Job Responsibilities:
Configuring and installing Cisco 2960 Switches
Executes moves, adds, changes and deletions of communications and network systems
Serves on an On-Call rotation in support of Network components
Deploys company LANs, WANs and wireless networks including servers, routers, switches, UPS and other hardware
Ensures network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines and other Networking appliances
Executes new and existing equipment network component inventory and hardware and software upgrades
Installs new and upgrades existing WAN circuits
Coordinates the installation of infrastructure cabling systems
Configures networks to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
Troubleshoots and resolves issues across the network platforms and escalates to third level support when necessary
Supervise Jr. Network Engineers (up to four)
Creates and maintains documentation and technical specification information as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes and service records
Implements and maintains policies, procedures and associated training plans for network administration, usage and disaster recovery
Interacts with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services
Conducts research on network products, services, protocols and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry
Requirements:
High School diploma required
Bachelor’s degree in communication engineering, computer science or related field preferred
3-5 years’ experience with Cisco Technologies required
Experience in supporting and implementing Network Routing, Switching and Security products required
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification required
Proven experience supporting LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN implementations
Demonstrated expertise in contemporary network technology including knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/ IP, OSPF, BGP4, IPv6, QoS and VoIP
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and Internet standards including excellent hardware troubleshooting experience
Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language required
Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
