Our Fort Worth, TX based client is seeking a, full time direct hire or contract to hire, SEC Reporting Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

  • The SEC Reporting and Compliance Senior Accountant will play a critical role in carrying out the external reporting initiatives of the SEC Reporting & Compliance group as well as assisting in other important processes such as technical accounting research and SEC compliance. Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess all relevant new accounting literature impactful to the Company.
  • Assist in the coordination of technical accounting trainings across the finance function.
  • Coordinate and manage the external auditors on all financial statement audit efforts and technical accounting matters.
  • Monitor and assess new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules and regulations, including trends in comments letters and make recommendations for changes needed in Company policy/procedures.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, footnotes, MD&A and Part III for annual reports on Form 10-K and quarterly reports on Form 10-Q
  • Prepare other SEC filings such as earnings release and tables and registration statements, as required.
  • Assist during the IFRS conversion of Company accounting positions.
  • Review and interpret new SEC accounting rules and regulations to ensure compliance with SEC.
  • Research and document accounting disclosure requirements.
  • Interact regularly with the independent public accountants or outside consultants on accounting policy matters.
  • Gather and process accounting data obtained from Enterprise Accounting for external or internal reporting and audits.
  • Serve as the communication liaison for technical accounting inquiries from all internal and external parties.
  • Prepare and/or lead the meeting materials for the monthly technical accounting meetings.
  • Prepare and/or lead the meeting materials for the quarterly MD&A meetings.
  • Review XBRL documents for accuracy, consistency and completeness of data tagging
  • Perform monthly and quarterly financial statement comparative analysis

Other/ Additional Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review other ad-hoc analysis and special projects, as requested.
  • Participate in the company Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Provide review of general accounting matters as needed to assist Enterprise Accounting.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Title of Direct Report(s): No Direct Reports
  • Title of Supervisor: SEC Reporting and Technical Research Senior Manager 2
  • Internal/External Contacts
  • Liaison with and maintain productive working relationships with internal departments such as Enterprise Accounting, FIS, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Project Accounting, HR, Legal, Revenue Assurance, Tax, External Auditors, DCAA, Government Compliance, Financial Planning and Analysis, etc.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of U.S. General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required.
  • Knowledge of internal and/or external reporting. SEC reporting preferred.
  • Knowledge of general accounting that includes spreadsheets and relational database programs for data processing techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience in technical accounting literature and research.
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, work with little supervision, and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to analyze variances to budgets/forecasts/actual and explain to management.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to oversee and balance multiple work assignments.
  • Effective decision making and problem solving.
  • Exposure to XBRL preferred.
  • Strong PC skills including Windows and Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, and knowledge of Hyperion Enterprise is preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) preferred.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards, interpretations, and framework preferred.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • MBA preferred
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years of previous accounting experience or two (2) to three (3) years in public accounting preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Project leadership experience a plus

  • Normal Office Environment
  • Travel
  • Travel is typically 0% but may be required if a special project comes up (i.e. acquisition, merger, etc).
