Our Dallas oil and gas client is looking for a Senior Geoscience Technician to join their fast-paced team.

Position Description:
Produces and manages GIS data and applications for Company exploration program.  Maintains geology, well and geophysical data base inventories and libraries, provides compatible GIS files when appropriate and assists geologist and geophysicist in various clerical functions.

Position Responsibilities:
– Manages GIS need and capabilities for Appalachian Region as needed.  Acquire and map pertinent available data bases, including well data, culture, acreage, topography, remote sensing data, etc.  Insure compatibility with geophysics software.
– Complete data gathering as directed by Geoscience Supervisor for Geology, Engineering, Midstream/Pipeline and/or Land departments.
– Maintain and update inventories of geophysical and associated data bases and manage libraries of various digital data media onsite and offsite, along with various hard-copy files.  Incorporate materials obtained in acquisitions as needed.
– Provide and manage all wide-format scanning needs and capabilities for the Company.
– Assist Geoscience Supervisor  in preparation of geophysical programs, displays for management presentations, and materials for inter-company transactions/partnerships.
– Maintain intra-Company communications to share data, procedures, efficiencies, and problem-solving.
– Assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as needed or directed.

Position Qualifications:
– Comprehensive knowledge of mapping software.
– Bachelors in Geology, GIS, or computer science needed.
– Requires 3 to 5 years’ prior experience in Geoscience to prepare complex data needs for various departments.
– Experience and training in use of GEOGRAPHIX or similar mapping software.
– Previous work experience in petroleum exploration/development and production helpful. Well-developed analytical and problem solving abilities.
– Ability to research information.
– Strong attention to detail; ability to perform duties with a high level of accuracy.
– Strong computer skills; spreadsheet software and database management capabilities; GIS environment.
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
– Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out complex instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
