Our client, a global leader in natural gas compression, is seeking to hire a Shop Manager on a direct hire basis for its Fort Worth, TX location:
Position Summary:
Directs and coordinates the Shop activities. Responsible for achieving the goals for controllable expenses and operating income through effective planning and direction of Shop personnel.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Directs the service and repair of equipment as per customer scope
Coordinate shop work with outside customers
Plans, organizes and directs service schedules, offices and facilities.
Monitor and take corrective action to ensure Customer satisfaction for all jobs conducted in the shop
Oversees the maintenance and utilization of required spare parts and supplies.
Maintains a close working relationship with employees to provide guidance for their individual needs, career growth, training and development.
Champions a quality management culture
Fully implements and actively promotes Health, Safety & Environmental standards and policies
Negotiates and monitors service contracts for machinery and equipment.
Maintains good customer relationships and works to generate service and parts sales growth.
Makes recommendations for salary increases, promotions and transfers.
Required Skills or Tools:
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Analytical ability with common sense approach to problem solving
Ability to know the different kinds of compressor units to be serviced through the shop
Strong interpersonal skills for customer relations and negotiation skills
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) preferred
Time management skills – ability to work under deadlines to completion of tasks.
Ability to maintain polite demeanor and tactful approach under stressful conditions
Required Education/Experience:
Eight or more years in Gas Compression Industry
Background in Aftermarket Services Business
3 years in Supervisory Role
Preferred Education/Experience:
Related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with Lean Processes
Experience with Project Management
Physical Strain:
Must be able to work under pressure
Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department
