Our client in Schertz, TX Is looking for a Senior Estimator:
The Senior Estimator in Schertz, TX must have a strong background in plumbing systems and take-off. This senior estimator is expected to act as a bid captain, organizing the other estimating staff resources and performing the bid wrap up. They will provide and/or coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work and all types of contracts. Leadership and coaching skills required for mentoring junior estimators.
Specific Responsibilities:
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular mechanical bid or project.
Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc., to determine scope of work and required contents of project estimate.
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc., into unit and manhour figures.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work by using FastPIPE and FastDUCT estimating software.
Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates, with FastPIPE and FastDUCT, for assigned bids
Interpret or utilize design completion when drawing or design is unfinished. Seek assistance from Precon’s mechanical engineer when required.
Identify any unique quality control provisions or safety requirements required for a project and incorporate related costs into bid.
Ascertain any risks related to the estimate in order to guarantee that provisions are made for those risks in the tender.
Ensure that estimates are complete, well-organized and ready for review before the given deadline.
Maintain files of working documents as back-ups. Coordinate with the field operations team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the project team.
Follow awarded contracts, as assigned – may include estimating additional work items, change orders, procuring material, etc.
Provide leadership and mentor single-discipline and project estimators and other members of the Preconstruction group.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
Completed a 4 year apprenticeship in trades or have 4 years of relevant college education.
8+years estimating, working as a take-off estimator in Mechanical (plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC) construction
Successful track record estimating and negotiating large, complex projects
Thorough knowledge of company procedures, estimating techniques, FastPIPE and FastDUCT software, cost control systems and accounts
Ability to successfully coordinate and supervise group work effort
Superior technical, analytical, organizational and communication skills
