Our Dallas client is actively seeking Virtual Designer (w/sheet metal experience) to create system drawings and building models (BIMs) for preconstruction and construction projects utilizing computer-aided drafting (CAD) system and other related equipment. Must have sheet metal layout and design experience, with 3-D modeling proficiency a plus. Experience with CADDUCT software a definite plus.
Virtual Designer Responsibilities:
Perform routine tasks and complex assignments applying advanced knowledge of computer-aided drafting system standards, practices, and techniques.
Apply judgment and sound decision-making with respect to developing new drawings and models.
Work with 2-D drawings, 3-D models and conceptual layouts to produce clear, complete and accurate documents.
Collaborate with engineering department during model creation on design/build projects.
Perform quality assurance/quality control checks on models.
Effectively communicate with internal and external customers during the drafting and construction process.
Update models to reflect as-built conditions.
Develop increased proficiency in design system operation (with a resulting increase in productivity). Become adept at utilizing all software options.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
High school diploma/GED
2-3 years of experience performing computer-aided drafting; CADDUCT experience a definite plus
Working knowledge of 3-D drafting software
3-5 years of trade-specific experience
Strong written and verbal skills
Commitment to detail, deadlines and maintaining labor estimates
Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work well individually and as part of a team
