Our Phoenix AZ client is on the hunt for a contract Construction Paralegal for at least six months (could be longer) to support their general counsel in a contract support function.  This will start part-time and will progress to full-time hours.

This position will provide counsel and support to Transact Management and Operations in all aspects of the business requiring legal review and/or creation of contracts.  The role will require a person who has extensive knowledge and experience in the area of large construction contracts and working with general contractors.  A successful candidate will be able to help Transact structure agreements that drive revenue opportunities while reducing risk to an acceptable level.  We will also look to this role to help streamline processes and move more quickly to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.  In addition, this role will work with others to vet and develop strategies from a legal perspective prior to entering new markets and deliver new product offerings.

Position Responsibilities:
Support the development and review of (and the response to) Requests for Proposals, Construction Tender Packages, and Request for Quotations based on specifications and drawings developed by external consultants, project engineers, and project managers.
Prepare contracts and review purchase orders for construction, professional services and equipment purchases.
Work with internal customers to establish criteria to pre-qualify contractors and suppliers.
Support Transact in tracking contract milestones and deliverables to ensure all conditions are satisfied prior to payment.
Work with Project Manager to assist with the completion of  required progress billing reports to the customer according to their documented process for payment.
Work with internal project managers and external contracting organizations to manage any exceptions to standard industry practices.
Ensure that changes to contracts are communicated to executive management and departments across the organization.  Ensure that the necessary change control and approvals are in place.
Review and manage standard contract templates and other document templates.
Provide guidance and advice in the development of new market or product offerings.
Identify and share process improvements; communicate better means to achieve goals, promote efficiencies and generally enhance the working environment.

Professional Qualifications:

Required:
Paralegal with construction contract experience.
Bachelors degree.
Significant experience in the purchasing and contracting field specifically in construction general contracting.
Experience working effectively with construction related professions (e.g architects, engineers, contractors) and experience with technical plans and specifications.
Proven track record in contract negotiations and administration.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral.
Strong understanding of Construction and General Contractor terms, contract terms, performance measurement, payment requirements, and project management.
Experience with structuring deals that include consulting time and expenses with construction projects to ensure prompt and full payment.
Experience negotiating contract terms and understanding of standards in the Construction industry; with the ability to apply this in a software environment is desired.

Preferred:
Bachelors degree in business, law, or engineering.
Attorney with construction contract experience.
Experience with supply chain and software industry is a plus.
Experience executing construction contracts in the multi-million dollar range is preferred.
5–10 years of experience in the purchasing and contracting field specifically in construction general contracting.
