Our West Houston, TX client is in need of a Payroll/Human Resource Generalist for a 7 month contract.

Job Summary:
Assist club’s management staff with the recruitment, selection and orientation of new staff members.  Administer payroll records and assure that all federal, state and local wage and hour, worker’s compensation and related laws are consistently complied with.  Implement data collection systems and process and record salary/wage payments.  Assist with the management of the club’s health, retirement and other benefits programs.

Job Duties:
Manages the club’s personnel program; assists in the development/implementation of applicable policies and procedures; processes various labor reports; coordinates software applications to generate required information
Develops/places recruitment ads; plans recruitment strategies; screens applicants and makes hiring recommendations
Coordinates all employee record keeping functions
Continually reviews and assists in updating the employee handbook and personnel-related policies; assists in the management of the club’s progressive discipline program
Assists with the management of the club’s group insurance, 401k plan, unemployment and related benefit programs; communicates benefits information to staff
Undertakes special projects relating to job description/specification updates, performance appraisal improvements, wage/salary comparison surveys, etc.
Keeps current with ever-changing laws and regulations relating to employees; assures compliance with these laws and regulations
Advises line managers about discipline/discharge and related matters
Assists with general property orientation for new employees; assists in the development/implementation of department orientation and training programs
Assist/manages the Club’s scholarship program and referral programs
Establishes employee motivation and retention programs
Organizes employee activities as appropriate, i.e. employee appreciation lunch, picnics, Christmas party, etc.
Compiles and adheres to departmental budget; takes corrective actions as necessary to help assure that budget goals are met
Oversees all work-related injury claims to ensure integrity, on-going case management and reporting compliance
Assists the Safety Manager with monthly meetings; safety audits, safety training, etc.
Conducts training for management staff relating with regards to employment laws
Performs all duties related to the processing and record keeping of payroll for all employees
Generates various payroll and wage reports including budgets, management reports, etc.
Generates quarterly and year-end reports.
Performs other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the General Manager

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent computer skills
Good knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws

Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in HR
PHR preferred
ABRA, time management software and Crystal Reports experience preferred
