Our West Houston, TX client is in need of a Sales General Manager for a Direct Hire opportunity.

Job Summary:
The Sales General Manager (SGM) manages the hiring, training, and motivating of successful Sales Design Consultants to drive sales, revenue, and profitability of the Texas Division.  Assists in the development and execution of sales and marketing programs to ensure the profitable growth and expansion of company’s products and/or services.

SALES – Essential Functions:
Hire, train and retain Sales Design Consultants (“DCs”).  Educate new hires in industry specifics as well as sales techniques, and other necessary administrative duties.
Drive sales volume by motivating the Sales Design Consultants through goal setting, promotions, monthly sales meetings, coaching, participating in joint sales calls and various other ways.
Work with DCs to evaluate proposals and contracts including those all written “subject to management approval.” Revise details as needed to meet the overall objectives of closing the sale while maximizing profitability for the company.
Monitor progress and success for each DC as well as the overall team. Create development plans for under performing sales staff.
On a daily basis, review status of leads, appointments, signings, etc.
Work with the Lead Manager(s) to maximize conversion of leads to appointments.
Continually follows up with customers for a variety of reasons such as cancellations, resolving construction and service issues, obtaining financing, and general follow up to increase customer satisfaction and referrals.
Along with the General Manager and VP of Sales, develops annual sales and marketing budgets including sales goals and personnel and administrative requirements.
Supervise the pre-audit and document preparation work of the DC’s and Sales Administrators. As needed, assist the Sales Audit Manager to ensure timely auditing and clearing sold jobs.
Ensure the SalesLogix database is being used efficiently by sales team and that the sales-related data is accurate and current.
Ensure that sales procedures and company polices are consistently followed by all members of the sales team.
Project a professional and competent image for company and set an example for the staff.
Ensure the office is projecting the appropriate image to the customers, for example: professionally answering and responding timely to customer calls and requests, display of samples and equipment in sales offices, executing special events and programs, scheduling of adequate floor duty, etc.
Prepare management reports for daily/monthly assessment of DC performance and presentation during divisional meetings. Uses and reviews pivot tables and other computer software to assess DC and overall sales performance of division.

MARKETING – Essential Functions:
Oversee the research and monitoring of technological and demographic factors so that market opportunities may be capitalized on, while minimizing the effects of competitive activity.
Drive marketing campaigns with help from local agency. Oversee marketing and lead generation strategies using various media such as internet, billboards, email, newspapers, magazines, etc.  Must be able to accurately set and forecast cost-per-acquisition goals and execute marketing programs that achieve those goals.
Plan and oversee advertising activities including print, electronic, and direct mail. Communicates with agency on ongoing campaigns and oversees design and production of promotional materials.
Ensure the evaluation and analysis of market reactions to advertising programs to ensure the timely adjustment of marketing strategy and plans to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
Understand the competitive marketplace and equip the sales team to effectively sell against the competition. Oversee the maintenance of local market intelligence database and statistical data including competitor’s information e.g., pricing, products, amount sold, etc.
Develop and assist in conducting surveys and focus groups to analyze market demand, purchasing patterns, preferences, and the organization’s image and marketing effectiveness. Summarize and evaluate information received.
Stay abreast of current marketing-related industry literature across all relevant and related topics.

Internet Marketing responsibilities include:
Assist in the development of Internet lead generation and customer acquisition objectives, plans and strategies. Ensures the investigation of new internet, web-based or social media technology and enhancements to increase lead generation, brand awareness and improve the overall customer experience.
Oversee the development and analyzing of keywords, titles, descriptions, and landing page URLs to maximize lead generation results.
Oversee the compilation of web analytics usage trends to improve and/or add functionality and help determine product demand requirements.
Oversee the creation and execution of a local SEO/SEM structure and strategy.  Review Web-Analytics including site performance-general stats (i.e. visitor info, sales, etc), click stream reporting, and traffic analysis.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree / MBA a plus
Experience: Minimum of 12 years sales related experience with 5 or more years in sales management. B2C and in-home sales experience strongly preferred. 

Specific Skills / Other Required Attributes:
Successful track record of exceeding sales goals and objectives. Has a proven track record of enhancing sales productivity year-over-year.
Management of a sales team that is compensated under a commission structure.
Experience in the development and implementation of sales incentive programs.
Ability to train salespeople. Presentation experience in front of large groups to present or train. Possess a high level of “Feature & Benefit” presentation skills.
A solid understanding of how marketing can effectively help a sales organization close new business and up sell existing customers.
Strong financial skills and experience working with a P&L.
Knowledge of current web technologies for marketing including internet branding, social networking, pay-per-click, email blasts, SEO/SEM protocols and other online ways to best penetrate markets.
Experience working with external marketing/advertising agency relationships.
Knowledge and experience with P&L forecasting and budgeting.
Experience using CRM software such as SalesLogix, Goldmine, ACT, etc.
High level of computer literacy with track record and demonstrated skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Availability to work and run sales appointments with salespeople at night and on weekends.
Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
Strong and respected leader/manager.
Desire and capability to assume higher career level position.
Travel – approx. 30% of time – primarily between Houston, Austin and San Antonio
