Our Houston TX client, located in the Jersey Village area, is in need of a Senior Accountant.
Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day maintenance of a complete and accurate general ledger and in preparing basic financial reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconcile complex general ledger accounts monthly including research and resolution of discrepancies.
Reconcile sub-ledgers to GL as required.
Prepare monthly journal entries and supporting schedules.
Participate in month end, quarter end and year end closings.
Communicate with team members from other divisions/Companies as well as external sources.
Assist in ERP implementation and other accounting projects as requested.
Provide information for auditors and tax accountants and other special projects.
Reviews job cos and billing set up to ensure accurate cost/revenue recognition.
Assist with sales tax compliance (multi-state) and reporting.
Prepare/Review job cost and revenue recognition reports.
May provide functional advice and training to less experienced accountants.

Possesses and applies broad knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
Excellent attention to detail with good analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent PC skills, particularly proficient with Excel and ERP.
Ability to handle multiple activities successfully.
Creative problem solver who enjoys working in a challenging and dynamic environment.
Experience:
Bachelors degree in accounting.
3-7 years, public/industry/mix
